The Call Out:

We are at an important time in the #IdleNoMore movement, and we need to keep momentum up now that Harper has agreed to meet with the Assembly of First Nations (AFN). So I’m writing this post to give everyone a brief overview about the planned #J11 action.

#J11: Global Day of Action
#J11 is being planned as an #IdleNoMore International Day of Action, Solidarity & Resurgence – on January 11, 2013 – to run parallel to the meeting between PM Harper and the AFN.

The goal is to raise the profile of the movement, demonstrate our global presence, and give visibility to our growing momentum as a peoples’ movement first.

As only a few AFN-determined representatives will be chosen to participate in the meeting with Harper, we thought it would be important to show that the rest of the movement stands united with one voice, that we are not going anywhere, and that we are here to demonstrate the strength and resurgence of our nations. We also want to honour and mark the fact that Jan 11th will be the 1-month anniversary of Chief Spence’s hunger strike, and to honour the other chiefs and elders who have been on hunger strike with her.

All nations and all people from around the world are invited to join in celebrating and affirming their support for what is happening and the need to keep things moving forward together.
