Do you know anything about the CIVICUS ASSEMBLY - which preceeds it?- supposedly made up of Civil Society Leaders- but no Canadians were invited. My registration cost jumped from $200 on 17th/July for 3 days to $200 @day- which is too expensive for me. I phoned the INM( Institute Nouveau Monde) for info - but the young girl was clueless as to my querries. Since I live in Winnipeg- maybe out of the loop of happenings in Montreal? Realise that it is a U.S organised venture...Could you enlighten me about Civicus is REALLY about?- besides talking.
Thank You/Merci
Update: National Film Board of Canada and Institut du Nouveau Monde announce partnership for innovative CitizenShift and Parole citoyenne Web platforms .
Through open and informed debates between experts and citizens, INM's Strategic Meetings aim to reveal a vision of the Quebec we aspire to live in 20 years from now. The method is three fold: to inform the participants about the issue, to debate about it and, finally, to adopt proposals or call for action. The first one, held in the spring of 2005, focused on the subject of health and led to the publication "100 idées citoyennes pour un Québec en santé". This book was used by decision makers working in the health sector and by the World Health Organisation. The last Strategic Meeting, on the subject of culture, was held in 2007 with 1500 participants and the ideas formulated during the event were published in the book "La culture, notre avenir!"
