For the second time in a week thousands of Canadians took to the street to call for an end to Israel’s illegal siege of Gaza, and to protest the May 31 attack on the Mavi Marmara — a ship that was part of flotilla attempting to deliver aid to Gaza. The Mavi Marmara was overtaken by the IDF in international waters, its passengers kidnapped and the ship along with the entire flotilla, brought to Ashod where the goods and most of the personal belongings of those on the ship were confiscated by Israel. Most of the nearly 700 activists were released and sent to Turkey or other countries, however many remain in Israeli custody.

Canadians in cities including Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver joined tens of thousands around the world on Saturday to demand justice for those 9 aid workers killed by gun fire at close range by the Israeli Defense Force, this as on the same day, Israel intercepted and kidnapped another crew of internationals attempting to bring aid to Gaza — this time aboard a ship named after American activist Rachel Corrie, who was killed by Israeli soldiers in Gaza in 2003.
