This is rabble.ca's staff blog. Visit this blog regularly for updates about rabble, and comments and observations from staff members, with occasional visits by board members and volunteers. Our staff blog is represented by our website "mascot" Ruckus, the sock monkey, who joined us in 2006. Ruckus cheers us on through fundraising campaigns and membership drives, and reminds us to keep perspective in the midst of the challenges of running an independent media website.

If you can't trust Harper's Parliament you need to be able to trust the media that cover it.

Harper Government agenda 2011 so far:

- Appoint losing Conservative candidates to Senate (done)
- Build super prisons to address declining crime rate (coming soon!)
- Ignore international carbon emission standards (done, continuing)
- Buy absurdly expensive fighter jets, (price tag doesn't include engines, coming soon!)
- Much, much, much more...

Dear Friends:

Let's stand up for Canada. Please strengthen the opposition to Harper's agenda and support rabble.ca by joining our annual spring membership campaign.

Corporate media conglomerates endorsed Mr. Harper and the Conservatives claiming he has "shown leadership. . . and discipline" (Globe and Mail) and that he brings "stability" to Canada (National Post). Big corporate media can't be trusted to tell the real story on issues that matter most to you. Canada's big media can be found toying around with the climate crises, beating war drums, disparaging labour, supporting corporate tax cuts and more.

At rabble we stand by our slogan "news for the rest of us", community based and community supported. Yet, we can only tell your stories and raise your issues with your support.

And if you become a member ($5/month) you can pick a great independent print magazine subscription as our "thanks" (and if you go to at least $8/month we will throw in The Best of rabble.ca 2010).
