This is rabble.ca's staff blog. Visit this blog regularly for updates about rabble, and comments and observations from staff members, with occasional visits by board members and volunteers. Our staff blog is represented by our website "mascot" Ruckus, the sock monkey, who joined us in 2006. Ruckus cheers us on through fundraising campaigns and membership drives, and reminds us to keep perspective in the midst of the challenges of running an independent media website.

Just reporting is... just this close

| September 17, 2011

Dear Friends,

We are getting great feedback about putting a reporter for the rest of us at Parliament Hill. We are still seeking funding from different sources, but rabble.ca is only about $1,000 short of our goal of $5,000 from rabble readers/visitors to put award winning journalist Karl Nerenberg on Parliament Hill! Parliament kicks off next week, if you can support this initiative now is the time.

Like so many of you we are hungry for reporting that gives context to political moves, that explores under-reported issues, that doesn't simply accept that official framing of an event or story.

Award winning journalist Karl Neremberg can bring that to us. For over 25 years, including eight years as the producer of the House, Karl has been covering politics and social issues. Mr. Nerenberg works in English and French (still quite rare among Canadian broadcasters and journalists) and has been awarded a Gemini, among other distinguished accolades for his work.

Please put Karl on the Hill! Donate right now by clicking here.
