This is rabble.ca's staff blog. Visit this blog regularly for updates about rabble, and comments and observations from staff members, with occasional visits by board members and volunteers. Our staff blog is represented by our website "mascot" Ruckus, the sock monkey, who joined us in 2006. Ruckus cheers us on through fundraising campaigns and membership drives, and reminds us to keep perspective in the midst of the challenges of running an independent media website.

rabble on the podium for the Canadian Online Publishing Awards

| October 26, 2011

This week rabble.ca was tickled to win "silver" for best online only news site (in the aptly named "red" category) at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards. Congratulations to Torontoist for the win!

As we wrote when we became a finalist, the best things probably do sometimes come in small packages. At rabble.ca we use our small (tiny, really) budget to bring news for the rest of us to Canada and the world.

We are proud that we have such a talented, dedicated group of professionals who work, write, blog and, yes -- volunteer for us. Our mission says that we will "draw on the real energy and power of the Internet -- passionate, engaged human beings."

Thanks to all the individuals and organizations that make community media possible!
