This week the Canadian Online Publishing Awards announced their finalists and rabble.ca joined CBC, the Huffington Post and others as finalists. The Awards “recognize Canada’s best editorial and design work in digital publications including websites, tablet editions, digital replicas and apps.”

rabble.ca is a finalist for “Best Overall Online-Only Publication Website” and “Best Tablet Edition” for our iPad multimedia edition of red squares, white feathers, best of rabble 2013.

Thank you to all of our community supporters, sustaining partners, volunteers, contributors, board and staff. rabble.ca’s publisher Kim Elliott said, “We are proud that the judges selected us along with such organizations like the CBC as finalists for the best online-only publication. It shows that even with a tiny budget you can provide a quality service.”

Last year rabble.ca was the first organization in Canada to use iBooks Author for a long-form journalism project (our first best of rabble.ca tablet, done in partnership with Online-Journalism Students from the University of Ontario). “We are very excited this year to be recognized for our dynamic new “best of rabble 2013” tablet edition,” said Elliott.

This free tablet version has all the articles from the book plus video, photographs, podcasts, and audio clips. One can read a piece by Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois and watch him give a talk, read an article by Judy Rebick and watch a video of her speaking, hear related podcasts, see great photos and more. It also features dynamic boxes with discussion board threads that explore issues in the book. You can download the tablet edition for free right here.

The Canadian Online Publishing Awards winners will be announced at a ceremony in Toronto on November 13.
