The speech from the throne, adult beverages, and a reporter for the rest of us

Please chip in to support more articles like this. Support rabble.ca today for as little as $1 per month!

After the speech from the throne  you may need an adult beverage or two. The news may be full of how you will be able get al a carte cable TV but as rabble.ca’s Parliamentary reporter Karl Nerenberg warned last week there are already serious environmental ramifications from the omnibus legislation last session and we will hear much more of that to come.

We need your help to get those stories out. Karl can provide you with the scoop on the budget and the continued attacks on democracy. The good news is that with your support you can keep getting great analysis from the Hill from Karl Nerenberg. The fact though is that we are still well short of the funds we need to raise to keep Karl reporting on Parl. If you can spare a few dollars (price of a few adult beverages perhaps) it really helps.  If you can give $25 or more you will be entered into our prize draw. You can donate at: www.rabble.ca/donate.

Everyone who donates at least $25 will be entered to win:

- one of 10 rabble tote bags
- one of 5 rabble best of rabble book bundles
- the grand prize of the critically acclaimed Nexus 7 (16gb) tablet!

 Keep the stories coming!

Thank you for reading this story…

More people are reading rabble.ca than ever and unlike many news organizations, we have never put up a paywall – at rabble we’ve always believed in making our reporting and analysis free to all, while striving to make it sustainable as well. Media isn’t free to produce. rabble’s total budget is likely less than what big corporate media spend on photocopying (we kid you not!) and we do not have any major foundation, sponsor or angel investor. Our main supporters are people and organizations -- like you. This is why we need your help. You are what keep us sustainable.

rabble.ca has staked its existence on you. We live or die on community support -- your support! We get hundreds of thousands of visitors and we believe in them. We believe in you. We believe people will put in what they can for the greater good. We call that sustainable.

So what is the easy answer for us? Depend on a community of visitors who care passionately about media that amplifies the voices of people struggling for change and justice. It really is that simple. When the people who visit rabble care enough to contribute a bit then it works for everyone.

And so we’re asking you if you could make a donation, right now, to help us carry forward on our mission. Make a donation today.
