This is rabble.ca's staff blog. Visit this blog regularly for updates about rabble, and comments and observations from staff members, with occasional visits by board members and volunteers. While our website "mascot" Ruckus the sock monkey is on vacation, our staff blog is represented by this gorgeous ladybug, who is sporting the *rabble.ca* colours and reminds us that there are good, "beneficial" pests, like independent media who bug the right folks.

Matt Dusenbury accepting silver medal

Who doesn't like a little recognition? The Canadian Online Publishing Awards ceremony was this week and rabble is pleased to have received a silver medal in the category of Best Tablet Edition and to have been a finalist for Best Online Only Publication Website! Congratulations to all of the nominees and the winners. Thank you to all of our donors and supporters who enable us to produce high-quality content and provide news for the rest of us to people around the world.

This year rabble.ca once again produced a free special iPad tablet version of our "best of rabble" book entitled Red Squares, White Feathers. Matt Dusenbury was the project designer for this multi-media edition, which features text, photos, video and audio of rabble content. A special thanks goes to rabble's blogs coordinator Michael Stewart, who assembled and edited all of the content. Congratulations to Michael and Matt, and to AUX who took home the gold. We were in strong company as a finalist for Best Online Only Publication Website, including CBC News, The Huffington Post, and the gold medal winner the Toronto Standard. Congratulations to all!

Our budget may be modest but our reporting is strong; thank you again to everyone who supports independent media and rabble.ca.
