Convergence Space Grand Opening!

The Toronto Community Mobilization Network (TCMN) – who are facilitating the G8/G20 Summit protests in Toronto — has announced the location of its convergence space for activists to gather during the Summit Demonstrations.

Address: 1266 Queen Street West (just west off Noble), Toronto Ontario Map

Here’s the Opening Day schedule from the TCMN

OPEN UP THE SPACE: 10:00 am

Come out and hear activists and community members talk about why we need to cancel the G8/G20! Get inspired, check out our new space and help us set up!

TALK ABOUT G20 DAY: 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The actions are planned. The wall is up. The so-called leaders are coming. And many Torontonians are wondering why all this money is being wasted to promote anti-people, anti-environment policies.

We need to talk to them. And hear how we all want a better world. A world where ordinary people are allowed to make a living. A world where the planet isn’t being trashed. A world where their money isn’t being used to take away their freedom and their city. It’s time to make clear that the G8 and G20 bullies are the ones that are the trouble makers here. And that the people of Toronto are welcome to join us in telling these leaders to take off.

Let’s create the buzz in this city, let’s get out friends and families out to the streets, and let’s challenge the G20 together! Let’s build awareness across Toronto an on the web presence. June 17 is Talk About G20 Day

If you can, please bring postering materials such as wheat paste, tape, staple guns, etc (we will have some too). Wear your Toronto Community Mobilization Network T-shirt or button and don’t forget your awesome attitude and energy! We will be at the convergence space all day with posters, flyers and maps, so bring your friends and join us.

PARTY!:  8:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Come Kick off the June 2010 Resistance!

We’re going to warm up the convergence space! Let’s make the space ours! We’ve got DJ’s food and a whole lot of fire in our hearts! Think of this as a housewarming for the movement’s house! Let’s spend time together socializing and dancing before we take to the streets!

Things to consider bringing:
–friends, family and loved ones
–a “gift” for the convergence space (shelves, zine’s, office supplies,
–anything you have, that we might need, that you don’t need)
–a monetary donation to keep us going!

This is a sober space free of drugs and alcohol.

This space is accessible, however the washrooms are not.
