Casualty of Climate Change: Tuvalu, a Disappearing Nation

Free Workshop

Tuvalu is a island state of 11,000 pupolation in the Pacific. This beautiful island state is under the threat of rising sea level caused by climate change. At the highest tide of the year (the King Tide) the island state is partially submerged, part of the main road and the airport runway is under water. The water also bubbles up from the ground—the coral which forms the foundation of the islands.

Fishing and farming are the main economic activities of the island. The rising sea level and the high tide result in the increasing salinity of the farmland. This makes farming very difficulty. The rising sea level also causes the erosion of the shore line of the islands.
