Call it Unequal Canada -- the national tour. British professor and epidemiologist Richard Wilkinson has packed his first visit to Canada with public meetings, and private sessions with senior government officials and community leaders. His message is powerful, yet simple: Greater equality is better for everyone.
"It's not just the poor, but everyone is worse off in unequal societies," said Canadian statesman Ed Broadbent as he introduced Wilkinson for his sold-out Toronto presentation on Dec. 10. "More equality, not more growth, matters."
Zach Wahls, a 19-year-old University of Iowa student, spoke about the strength of his family during a public forum on House Joint Resolution 6 in the Iowa House of Representatives. Wahls has two mothers, and came to oppose House Joint Resolution 6 which would end civil unions in Iowa.
The fight to to keep marriage equality in Iowa continues, help us support Iowans like Zach.

Ontario has one of the world's largest gender pay gaps: 29% We need to start thinking of this as a group issue, one that crosses the lines of gender, class, ethnicity, etc. Together we can demand political leadership to close the pay gap. Thanks to http://genwhymedia.ca/ for their amazing work on the video and Aidan Knight for the music http://aidanknight.com/.
The National Alliance of Philippine Women in Canada (NAPWC) is proud to present its first-ever benefit concert: Something Else, Something Fierce, featuring an almost all-female Filipino Canadian line-up of celebrated and emerging artists.
Proceeds from the concert will enable the NAPWC to advance its mandate for genuine equality and development for Filipino Canadian women. Beyond breaking stereotypes that Filipino women are servile, domesticated women, the NAPWC develops national programs that enhance the community's political and social involvement in Canada through community-based research projects and political advocacy.
