Israel attacks humanitarian ship to Gaza in international waters

Global Research has been in contact with the Spirit of Rachel Corrie, a Malaysian ship carrying a humanitarian aid cargo to Gaza, which has been attacked in international waters by Israel.

The vessel left the Port of Piraeus, Greece on Wednesday, May 11 carrying 7.5 kilometres of UPVC (plastic) sewage pipes to help restore the devastated sewerage system in Gaza. The humanitarian initiative is sponsored by Perdana Global Peace Foundation (PGPF) and participating in this mission includes anti-war activists and journalists, consisting of seven Malaysians, two Irish, two Indians and one Canadian.

Canadian activist Kevin Neish smuggled photos off the Mavi Marmara, the lead ship in the Free Gaza flotilla that was raided violently by Israeli troops last week, killing nine peace activists.

Neish's photos were published Monday in the Middle East, in the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet and in this blog along with images taken by others, to name but two. Two are reproduced here for rabble, and he is awaiting the return of the remainder.

Flotilla of journalists to sail to Gaza from Lebanon with aid in 'upcoming week'

Following the attack on the Free Gaza Flotilla ship Mavi Marmara a week ago and the seizure of the crew and activists of the MV Rachel Corrie on Saturday, Lebanese, Palestinian, and foreign press based in Lebanon are together attempting to break through the blockade on Gaza by launching an aid boat early next week.

The "Naji Al-Ali" Flotilla will carry medical aid, food, educational tools as well as monetary funds. It is named after the late Palestinian political cartoonist and cultural icon.
