Kimberly Rivera refused to shoot at children in Iraq. She had the courage to dissent, to resist. Now she sits in prison, pregnant, away from her husband, Mario, and four young children.
The Canadian government rejected her claim for refugee status and refused to grant a hearing for her application to stay in the country based on humanitarian and compassionate grounds.
Veterans for Peace
We hope the Canadian government will do its best to represent the will of the peace-loving Canadian people. Please let Kimberly Rivera stay.
Rivera thought joining the army was the best way to earn the money for post secondary education. At 17, enlisting without realizing it, she convinced herself that she had made the right choice.
