Workers Compensation / injured workers discussion & educational
Location
Currently Ontario's Workers' Compensation Board, the WSIB, is implementing it's own austerity program, and the cuts are coming off of the backs of those who depend on the system: injured workers. Benefits and entitlements are being slashed for this vulnerable population.
This event is to learn about your rights if you are hurt during the course of employment, as well as what is happeneing at the WSIB. PLease come if you are an injured worker or if you have an interest in workers justice issues, public policy or social justice.
This event is open to all and free of charge.

Rally against private auditing firm KPMG! Stop the cuts to our worker's compensation board! Stop the cuts to the City of Tororon
Location
KPMG, a private auditing firm has recently issued a paper that has been endorsed by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board. The paper argues for dramatic changes to the WSIB which will have negative implications for workers hurt or made sick while on the job. This is the same firm hired by Rob Ford to find drastic cuts to the city of Toronto. Private interestes should noit dictate public policy.

Location
This is the 28th annual Injured Workers' Day. Come show your support and solidarity with injured workers who are demanding to be treated fairly, with respect and dignity, and that injury should not equal poverty. The worker's compensation system is failing those is was designed to protect. More and more workers are falling betwen the cracks, while others are victims of a system that places economics over compassionate care.
