Hey everyone,

While not traditionally a Canadian event -- we don't celebrate our national day with the same amount of patriotism, reflected in the U.S. motto of "The first duty of a patriot is to defend his country from tyranny (of the one percent) -- our national holiday does give us an opportunity to reflect on what it means to be a dissident on Canadian soil.

I wanted to announce that a state-wide call went out across the United States to gather all occupiers together for a national conference in Philly that runs from Saturday to July 4, 2012.

In the U.S., the Occupy movement respective to each city has been occupying the AGMs of large, multinational corporations such as Wal-Mart and holding demonstrations against NATO.

May 1, 2012 - An eventful month at "Occupy Ottawa" saw the General Assembly approve a change of name to "Occupied Ottawa." This discussion began the day the movement began and has been an ongoing discussion in particular in Oakland, Seattle and Toronto.

In Toronto, a Decolonization Statement was issued by the Occupy Toronto Cloud Gardens General Assembly.

I am happy to announce that Occupy Ottawa has launched a new blog regarding their Occupy movement as a collection of articles in a monthly communique.

The announce of the blog's launched was made on March 1, 2012, as, "Beginning with this post, Occupy-Ottawa.org will publish a synopsis of what's taken place over the course of each month, as well as some of the trending topics at Occupy Ottawa, with related links."
