Indie Inside: 24-HOUR Church of Beer

Growing from the dark woods of a secluded island in Canada's stunning Georgia Strait, 24-HOUR Church of Beer evolved slowly, somewhat like mushrooms, or a lager yeast. The group is currently a power trio, consisting of Rev. Tim (bass, lead vocals, most words), Mutha Superior G (guitar, vocals), and Brother Lazarus (drums, vocals). To learn more about them and their new album Sacrelicious, go to 24-HOUR Church of Beer's MySpace page.

Indie Inside: Robbie Tucker and the Dangerous Crayons

In 2007, Montreal musician Robbie Tucker returned to the stage following a two year hiatus; the result of a 2005 Parkinson's disease diagnosis. The unusual neurological disorder had rendered him incapable of performing on stage; but working with his medical team, Robbie, never gave up and continued to practice, sing, write and rehearse. It is this level of commitment that has allowed him to continually achieve his goals.

February 22nd, 2008, brought about a new chapter in Robbie’s career, as, while performing a with his new band, The Dangerous Crayons, he announced the founding of MAPMusic (((Musicians Against Parkinson's))), his new non-profit organization, which aims to educate and raise awareness as to the nature of Parkinson’s.

Indie Inside: The Bicycles

The four piece pop perfectors from Toronto, The Bicycles, are known for their sparkly live shows filled with catchy two minute tunes that’ll get your heart racing. The Bicycles want their music to reflect who they are as people, as a band, and their outlook on the world, which sounds really boring, but think of all that set to a crisp bit of tambourine. Snappy! Basically, the Bicycles like to have fun. Check them out on myspace.

Indie Inside: Mother Mother

Vancouver Canada’s Mother Mother are generating much recognition with their original approach to modern pop/rock music; a beautifully bent portrait of vocal harmony, clever, offbeat lyricism, and dynamic instrumentation. Their sound is best encapsulated on their sophomore album, O My Heart, produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers).
