Three cheers for Kathleen and her campaign to ban Canada's asbestos exports.

It isn't only tradesmen affected by this deadly substance.  In WorkSafe BC's 2007 Annual Report,

of the 139 workplace fatalities, 59 were asbestos related. This is up from 43 in 2006.

Asbestos doesn't favour any particular industry either. The list of occupations of the workers

who died from asbestos exposure included not only mechanics, plumbers, construction workers

and insulators but also an accountant, a school principal and a teacher's assistant.
