In addition, equality must now be fused with the themes of environmental sustainability and economic democracy in order to create a coherent set of ideas relevant to the challenges of the twenty-first century.

Whilst the article deals with the UK and its political scene, the principles are applicable across the developed world where we are seeing the end of what economic growth can do for general levels of wellbeing.
