For Canadian civilians the concepts of honour, duty and sacrifice act as a shield keeping people from recognizing that active duty, reserve and retired soldiers are also casualties of war. For the anti-war community, it's a hatred of the whole military complex that clouds the eye.
So now rabble is publishing articles criticizing the antiwar movement for not recognizing that Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan are "heroes" (her word)?
The true heroes are the ones who refuse to fight, the war resisters. The ones who voluntarily go off to make Afghanistan safe for oil and gas pipelines are not worthy of our admiration or respect.
By all means, treat their physical and psychological wounds, but let's not pretend they are deserving of our gratitude.
