Rafe Mair on how Layton overtakes the Liberals
Interesting commentary from the inveterate Rafe Mair regarding Jack Layton campaigning in BC found here at The Tyee.
Included is this observation:
This is where Carole James comes in. I believe that the NDP campaign management team was either hopelessly incompetent or had a death wish for her. My sense of it is that James knows that and, if she is listened to, will provide the boost for Layton's campaign that it will need. She's liked and respected, personally is a good campaigner and unlike most of her caucus, understands these issues.
This where I believe Harper is going too, people will have a choice, go to jail for your debts, or elect to be someone's slave, and they will call it consensual slavery.
Holly batman - but the underlying philosoply of the conservatism is a belief that inequality is ok and right, so by extension where being a "slave" by default (debt payment).
You betcha they believe inequality is okay, in fact they believe it is natural, right and good
Reading around internet world about the golf maven scandal and and all discussion from the "right" is based from class differntiation. I.e, "should have stuck with his own class they know how to keep their mouths shut" or " "serving wench syndrome".
After thinking about about this further last evening and this morning, really indicates to me why the religious whacked out and the sociopathic non-religious right who are "monied" have come together....to make such a catastrophic world.
I can only dream of that. A federal NDP government would be one of the greatest days in my life.
The Carole James bit though, I don't think so. Now that she made it past this convention and staying on, she will be a hindrance. It is not that she is a bad person or anything but she has the Iggy syndrome (or maybe iggy has the James syndrome) but she has such a bad rep she is unelectable. I think she will cause more harm than good to be perfectly frank.
