"Powerful conservative forces still operate within the party creating tensions."
Where does Murray Dobbin get off saying things like this without ANY indication to its validity. This is purely ideologically driven and spun to appease the labour financing behind his derogatory and pompous tone. If he is so akin to relate to democratic reform, he needs to pull up his socks on journalistic integrity. Although he claims never to have an NDP membership, he has consistantly attacked the Greens for being heavily right-of-centre without justification and if they originate from the right, they must be pure evil. One cannot expect Canadians of all political persuasions to automatically veer left when NDP or Bloc decide to posture in Parliament on environmental policy (like Bill C-311 -- an utter failure).
Green policy is solution-based and releases itself from the chains of left-right economic ideologies.
Elizabeth May countered Murray's spin very effectively and we can see why the Greens under her leadership are on the rise in the polls without having any seats and being as pluralistic and non-silo oriented as possible. Perhaps Jack and co. should wake up to this notion and realize that he will never realistically run for PM. At least May is clear about this and focusses on a more representative and proportional form of government.
