Feeling right at home
Having had a look around, I was very happy to see such a collection of active indivuduals trying to make the community and country, better. I grew up with an activist father (and mother), and while I was very socially and politically active while studying at university two decades ago. Like too many I largely receeded to persuing my career, raising a family and doing a little volunteer work.
This inaction is changing, to rise to the occassion. I will be at the anti-prorogue protest on Jan. 23. My renewed concern for democracy, civil and human rights has been motivated by a horrific experience in 2005 in Canada involving 'terrorist profiling' and torture. I hope this is a forum where I can share my story.
Welcome, PR! We're happy to have you!
As for solidarity against torture and racial profiling, you'll find lots of allies here.
Hey PR, happy to see you here! Welcome! And I'll see you at the prorogue rally on the 23rd if you're going to the one in Toronto. :)
Isn't it kind of problematic to rally about prorogue-ing?
We should all stay home from work. I know I am.
My favorite protest part was the start when the drummers started and two of the horses, if not all, starting giving the riders a ride for their money. It was only for an impressive handling by riders, and horse training, that no one was pitched off their mount.
