What's not to like about the opening ceremonies and Gretsky was the right choice. Smile

You can't even spell Gretzky FFS.

If you'd learn to spell his name after I've corrected you at least twice, i'd take you more seriously.

All that money they spent on that hype instead of combatting poverty, and they couldn't even get the torch pillars to work!  Oh well, I guess The Dead Dead Children Were Worth It anyhow!

Errmm, not so sure I'm a big fan of the National Anthem.  She had a great voice, but it's not a pop song called OMG! Canada.

Vancouver's current Mayor, Gregor Robertson, inherited the Olympics, but he is the 1st Mayor in recent memory to at least make housing for homeless people a priority.

..not quite. robertson's party, vision, broke away from cope so that it could support and campaign for the olympics. all that robertson has done so far for the homeless is temporary. he ran on a campaign to end homelessness at the same time supporting the olympics. now the city is broke. it is clear to me which issue was the priority.

Major offensive launched in south Afghanistan

Published 13 February, 2010, 14:20

NATO troops led by the US have launched a major offensive in southern Afghanistan. This is the largest military assault since the Taliban was toppled in the 2001 invasion.

Thousands of American Marines and Afghan troops have started attacking the Taliban stronghold in the Helmand Province.

The assault is the first phase of an operation to loosen the militants’ grip on the area – and is seen as a key test of President Barack Obama’s recent troop surge.

But Americans started from the wrong foot, claims RT military analyst Evgeny Khruschev.

“It’s been more than four months they have been leaking information about an upcoming operation,” he said.“The idea was that they were playing dangerous a gambit that they could scare off the Taliban and separate them from the populace.”

Watch the full interview with Evgeny Khrushchev

But things happened in the worst case scenario, Khrushchev said. By leaking the information, the Americans gave plenty of time for the Taliban to evacuate important persons from the area, which is known as the heart of the country’s drug trafficking business.

And these peace games had live feeds from Afghanistan that only showed the occupying army enjoying the party.  I wonder what t the people who live in Helmand Province think of the GG and her message of peace.

I have posted - and I still fervently believe - that the place of a Commander-In-Chief is at the head of her troops. Once she takes her proper place, I'm sure the people of Helmand will know how to express their true appreciation.
