babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.
I have advised against that before, Caissa, and I would advise against it again. I hate to speak for anyone else, but the other boards do have their particular character now, and there are people who like it like that. I do, actually. I don't think any of us should turn imperial.
NB: I'm not advising against a new one of these threads, though.
I thought all the different forums have their occasional gatherings already. I'd invite folks out here to the Lower North Shore, but accomodations are scarce.
Well, don't most people know they can come back to chat if they want to? I know half a dozen BnRers who post here, and more who at least read here. And o' course, *advertisement alert* everyone's welcome to BnR any time. */aa*
I guess this thread started pre-strike. The strike was pretty interesting, George. We are generally encouraged not to talk about the strike on babble though.
How much old content was lost in the re-launch of the site?
Well, "discouragement" of talk has worked. I thought there was just a "great schism" caused by ideological divergence. But I still think - in fact it seems even more important - that a discussion of WORLD changes (not babble doings), changes in perception, the emergence of issues and the disappearance of others, how the universe has NOT evolved (in PET's terms). One wonders and ponders and chatting with others can be reassuring...the operative word being "can".
I see what you mean, George. If someone else starts the thread, I'd be willing to speak to that, although I think all the more current babblers should have a chance to speak first, to do a little turn like the ones we did above.

Skdadl, I said a week. I'm not suggesting returning to the staus quo ante bellum.
Sort of like a visit.

The Great Schism was over labour relations.
The only barrier to people moving back and forth between various progressively inspired boards is preference, and available time.
Closing for length, to be continued here.
