York U Student Investigated for Anti-Semitic Website
York University is taking "appropriate disciplinary actions" against a student being investigated by hate crimes units of the Ontario Provincial Police and Toronto Police Service for anti-Semitic postings on a conspiracy-theory website that advocate genocide against Jews.
The National Post first reported in a Tuesday, March 2 article that only months after Ontario Attorney General Chris Bentley decided not to press ahead with hate crimes charges against Salman Hossain - a decision that Canadian Jewish Congress CEO Bernie Farber partly blamed on the length of time it took to conduct the investigation - the York student is back on police radar for new online hate writings.

I see today in the National post that the student in question has been suspended. Good call!! http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=2654831
Congratulations, you've hunted down a real honest-to-goodness anti-semite; of arab extraction, no less. As opposed to all of the other muslims you've stained with your brush - not to mention anyone else who dares to question the actions and policy of the Israeli government.
So what makes this 'National News', in your mind?
Or babble-worthy at all?
Here's a hint for you: If you have to link to an apartheid-supporting site in order to post, you're probably making a mistake here.
Was that really necessary, LTJ?
Yes, it should probably have been in Central Canada news rather than National News.
News of a university taking action against a student for anti-semitic comments isn't "Babble-worthy', LTJ?
As a university employee, I found it interesting and really want more information to think it through.
I have now read both articles and they were disturbing. LTJ do you not think it newsworthy that a student at one of Canada's largest universities established a very sophisticated website that calls for a genocide of all Jews in North America and Europe? I cewrtainly do and I wonder why it took so long to suspend him.
Secondly why bring up his ethnic background? Seems more than unecessary to me.
I too agree that this deserves to be discussed. But Dillon, Caissa. Prophit, be prepared to be shouted down by the old guard here. They do it regularly regarding FN issues that don't conform to their views on how FNs should behave. Just saying.
What was so 'very sophisticated' about said-website, Gus?
I agree entirely, LTJ.
I've italicized your offensive 'addition' to your post, E.Tamaran. I must say that your characterization of this particular member of the old guard goes beyond offensive and into mendacious territory
if you're not prepared to support your slander with examples, I expect an apology.
I presume you want examples of Old Guard shouting down posters who offer differing views on FN activities? 'Cause I gots lots. You really want to go down that road?
I don't particularly care what you want to presume. There are exactly two 'members of the old guard' here. You owe us each an apology.
No, you owe me an apology. Old Guard is anyone who's been here a long time and can get away with stuff "normal" members couldn't. But you know what? You've proven my point. This thread is at risk of being derailed, which is what I suspected would happen. Any future discussion of the meaning of Old Guard, apologies, etc can be dealt with via pm.
Bye.
I saw the offending website and while I wouldn't use the word "sophisticated" to describe it, the site has a "professional" feel to it. In other words its not a simple Google/blog that anyone, even a technodinosuar like me, can put together. It is much more than that giving it a feel of authenticity....that is till you read it.
This could be huge. Has anyone advised B'nai Brith?
I would hope that other universities would follow suit if it was foudn that a person did similar posts.
I can only hope that should this type of thing ever arise again and it is another group targeted -- maybe women or other minorities that universities will use this as a precident.
no but i am wrong this poor young man should not be punished ... maybe he did not mean it.
if calling for a genocide against an entire race is not suspension worthy -- what is?
Anyone can put a 'professional' looking website together using standard software templates, often provided with webhosting services today. So you're pointing out that the lone anti-semite in question is as web-literate as any average 18 year old.
How very frightening. Call CSIS, pronto.
Old guard?
I think we should start a new guard too.
Pardon my question, but maybe I missed it:
Has anyone suggested that this piece of shit anti-Jewish scum should not be removed from the University community?
My only concern is that the precedent this sets might lead to the "Jewish" Defence League being thrown out as well.
Unionist i was responding to LTJ who stated in a post above
of course i may have misudnerstood the discussion of why discussing this on babble for being against the result.
Are you implying that I said this hatemongering moron should not have been suspended?
If so, you too owe me an apology.
LTJ i was not sure what you were saying that is why i questioned it.
I could not udnerstand why you would be against this being discussed on babble. it is a racism issue. therefore it prob belonged in anti-racism thread if any.
but you questioned why at babble at all.
so if your feelings were hurt or motive impuned i of course will apologize but still question why you would nto want it discussed here on babble?
Any thoughtful person will understand the value of this 'revelation' to the supporters of apartheid during this week.
what do you mean ltj?
i dont think timing has anything to do with this. a racist ass was suspended. period.
Am I missing something here? Why are you playing this down LTJ? Perhaps you are right about the site but this hateful person has called for the mass murder of Jews. Its on a blog site that potentially can be seen by thousands. What if of those thousands, three people chose to act on his call? You get my drfit. I think JPJ may have asked you the right questions. Your seeming desire to underplay this hatemonger is curious for sure.
JPJ, this whole "news" story is diversionary, and I have little doubt that the timing is suspect. The more Israel's fawning apologists associate Israel's crimes with the "Jews", the more we will see incidents of some pathetic scumbags firebombing a Jewish school because their twisted excuse for a brain is upset about something in the Middle East. What I find astounding is not this - it's the absolute puny quantity of this to date. I can only hope and pray that the (ever growing) number of Jews who renounce the Israeli criminals and declare "NOT IN MY NAME!!" will outpace the spontaneous generation of hateful scum like those mentioned in the OP.
Unionist I'm not sure how you come to suggesting the story itself is diversionary. It is news and the reporter has reproted it as such. Salman Hossein has been in the news before so its hardly a shock that a follow-up report given his hateful prediliction would be printed.
Wow, LTJ - what's your secret motive here? Jaku has unearthed a threat of mass murder of Jews - as she points out, it only would take three (3) web surfers out of several thousand who read this "professional" site to act on its call and perpetrate a new Holocaust - and how many Jews would die before they could be stopped? The law of averages doesn't lie!!! It's the law!!!!!
This is Jaku - remember - who diligently monitors, exposes, and denounces to the police every hint of danger to Palestinians.
So, LTJ, you have much to answer for. A vast anti-Jewish network has been unearthed in Canada. Admittedly, it is now halted dead in its tracks, by potential disciplinary action against some piece of shit student. And you make light of this threat?
Next you'll be telling us that Sderot suffered less than Gaza.
Ok, it's not diversionary.
But it certainly is being used that way by the sycophantic fan club of the Israeli mass murderers.
As for Salman Hossein being in the news before, how about compiling a list of everyone in the world who has posted on the internet saying "Mavet la'aravim" or the equivalent. You'll be awfully busy with "news" stories.
What a strange response. First, I unearthed nothing, the Natioanl Post reported on this. Second your belittling the fact that extremists can act out is fooloishness on your part. Third your response suggests well frankly its just odd.
