Did anyone else in Toronto feel that tremor 5 minutes ago!?
Yup. We just had an earthquake. I was 5 floors up and it was a bit dramatic.
Felt it pretty strong in Ottawa too.
Damned terrierists! What will they do next?

Well when the earth moves...
rr just told me his whole building was evacuated at work. And apparently people who live on high storeys felt it way worse than those of us close to the ground.
Sounds like Ottawa was hit bad, too.

This is actually the first earthquake I've ever felt, I think. I usually miss them too!

Ah, that's nothing compared to what we're expecting any time now in Vancouver.
It's a good thing Babble had the good sense to place a Moderator on the Left Coast. Could you imagine if an earthquake knocked all of the Centre of the Universe moderators out of action.

This is the biggest one I've felt and heard since Nov (I think) 1988 - that one was 5.7 centred in Saguenay. When I try to look it up on the government quake site, I get this message:

Not bad. Try the balloon scene in Balthazar and Bluminda by the late Jose Saramago, or the scene in Kafka's The Castle involving the barmaid and "K" the Land Surveyor for more, and briefer, earthly delights.
You're so cynical. The Harper government believes in science and in maximizing information to the public, especially in times of potential disaster like these. Just have a look at the level of detail provided so soon after this earthquake:

My etes are blurry right now from my appointment with the opthamalogist so I may not be reading correctly, but I think the Mope and Wail article said the quake was caused by those swingin' Senators in Ottawa having a party to celebrate the end of the session

At first I thought it was a bomb - I was 5 floors up, and it was pretty dramatic.
