babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.

Psst -- remind: ask them if they know what the antepenultimate rule is. I'll send you a PM.

I don't have time for tertiary matters myself.

well...be that as it may, when the secondary, do not get the primary, and thus become abusive binaries, there is a problem, especially when one is a moderator.

Given the leanings they both have towards sexist actions, I am sure we could throw a healthy dose of sexism  as being the driving motive behind their perceptual error.

Hey, I just thought we were supposed to be moving toward the end... not the other direction.

Don't be such a pendant, al-Q. It's tortuous.

You don't expect me to impose a linguistic orthodoxy with mere fluffy pillows do you?

Once again, Catchfire leaves the "pendant" remark hanging...

<joke>

I just thought we had moved on to friendly demonstrations of baiting and how to side-step it. Probably best to just leave it.

It's not like you can call a mod, after all (well you can call him or her something, but that might not work out so well).

Ok, a look at babble archives reveals at least four otherwise astute babblers who committed the same howler as Catchfire - and all in the same thread, no less:

Pendantry in lieu of pedantry

We need a "flag as imprecise" button!

And maybe a few others (so as not to interrupt the flow of a good dialogue), such as "Flag as stylistically inadequate" or "Flag as too grandiloquent", etc.

Or am I being too pendantinc?

And a flag for "This person should be limited to using words of one syllable"...

Wow....frat boys*...doing a gang show, how pleasantly....unprogressive. But very revealing, of those who pretend they are allies. In the case of Sven, women babblers know he is not....and that should be a heads up to the rest, eh.

And it is a good thing I left room for examples of baiting to grow, eh....

* borrowed because it is apt.

Nah, you're just hanging out...

Oh, dear, does that make me a frat gril?

It depends on how you swing.

Sheesh, I was using pendant for affect. Why didn't you flag "tortuous" as well? You can be a real pre-madonna sometimes, Unionist.

I didn't flag it because I personally enjoy it just as much as torte Canada.

Anyhoo, it's one in the same thing, for all intensive dolphins.

I was waiting for a "post-madonna" reference  ....something about  Lady Gaga, perhaps.

I'm going to leave you dangling on that question...

Fun with homophones:

While Catchfire infrequently engages in baiting on babble, he frequently engages in bating on babble.

I'm sure the publisher is awaiting your letter with baited breath.

(sorry, couldn't help myself)

I'm closing this. The jokes have gone way too far, and the disrespect is not okay.
