I'm thinking I might come. I'm kinda skeert these days -- I haven't had any steel-toed boots for donkeys' years, and then there are the babblers ...

Well. I'll talk to the kittehs about it.

Depending on when I get off work that night, I may very well make an appearance...but I'd figure it would more likely be that I show up and miss everyone...

Again. :P

I believe Ghislaine is in PEI. I'll hoist a drink in SJ at about 8:30 ADT. That would be 7:30 Centre of the Universe Time.

I've meant to ask people who are in town (as I mainly am not these days) -- what is it like? Has the Wall come down? Is there still an excessive police presence on the streets? Or is everyone just pretending that nothing happened?

Old Goat, can you let me know where you found that photo posted above?

and I might come to this, but only if I'm allowed to wear black

There are a few places on the internet that have that picture statica.  I just googled agents provocateurs and looked at images.

Great to see you getting into party mode skdadl. Tongue out

I've heard that most of the walls are down, and all the newspaper boxes and parking meters are back in place. Order again. Phew.

bagkitty, it all depends on what kinda mask. Wink

As for the dress code, everyone must wear black tshirts that say "Maysie is Always Right". I'll be selling them that night at a reasonable price. Cash only.

And I don't know about agents, but I sure can be provocatif.  Especially after a few. Heehee.

Skdadl, this part of Toronto is fine.  The good burghers of the town go hither and yon caring not about the events of the recent past.

Well, more people care than I thought might.  But they could all be mistaken for usual suspects.

what kind of sandwhiches?

It's market day and I should probably make today my cooking for the house day so I probably won't get to taste them tonight.

skdadl has to send her regrets. skdadl lives with five aging kitties and one youngster who probably finds us old folks oppressive, much as she sometimes reinvigorates the rest of us-all.

This week, all three of the oldest guys are struggling, and today especially my Minnie, who will take my heart and soul with her one day, is having a tough time. This has happened before and we get past it, but I can't leave her until she's able to breathe and eat and drink again.

I hope you all have a wonderful time, and I'm hoping there'll be another Toronto gathering soon. I'm feeling things about the city that I didn't often feel most of the time I was there. The G20 still feels like such an insult, y'know? It's not going away.

Aww too bad skdadl, I guess we'll have to meet another time.

We'll probably do another gathering in the fall. Since I'm the social planner they seem to be quarterly, by season.

And G20 does NOT define Toronto! Don't do that, then the world leaders aka the Terrorists (tm) will have won.

P.S. Free Times Cafe has **sangria** ......Yummmm....

That't right.  Maysie defines Toronto.

I made a jug of sangria last week.  My recipe calls for heavy on the brandy.  It also calls for a fairly large jug.  I was in pain the next day.

Jeez, oldgoat, of course you were in pain, you're not supposed to drink the whole damn jug by yourself.

I don't think I can take on defining all of Toronto, but in some ways, Toronto defines me.

Except for the bagels. Don't get me started.

"Crunked" -- ??? In Calgary, no less???

Minnie is eating her supper. Just thought I'd give you the reassuring update. You have to be a cat person to get this. Fidel will understand.

Have a great time, guys.

And a lovely evening was had by all. It was a smaller crowd than we've had before. oldgoat was there, regaling us with stories of his sangria episode, Michelle and radiorahim were there, jrootham looking very trimmed, and we all met j.m. for the first time who came in from out of town for the festivities.

Discussion topics included politics in Peru and Cuba; the Catholic Church; trolls on babble; the food (scrumptious); beer; FIFA and high altitudes.

Did I miss anything?

Cool
