Amazing how our politicians will try and shut down groups critical of Israel, but no one will say jack-shit when it comes to a known terrorist organization operating in Canada.
JDL is now making hay about some rumours that there were gays in the Nazi Party, ie equating homosexuality with Nazism. This is the sort of outrageous bombast we expect from their ilk, yet as Keystone said, they're allowed to march around and bully people.
That's an old smear...kept alive through hate books like "The Pink Swastika" and their repulsive ilk. If the Nazis were actually full of gays, nobody would've been wearing pink triangles in the death camps.
I think I'd like to xpost this in LGBT issues, but I dont know how... anyone know?
Oh, as a frequent denizen of the LGBT forum, I think this forum is perfectly suitable. I can pretty much predict where it is heading and don't really see the need for thread duplication .... the way these things unfold it isn't going to have an LGBT perspective on it so no need for a duplicate.
Meir Weinstein is doing such a great job as JDL leader isn't he? I hope this putz continues to stand on guard for Israel for a long, long time...his public statement in support of Koran burning didn't cause much of a reaction, hopefully this will...

What is really alarming is something I have tried to sound the alarm about frequently.
The Jewish community seems to be mutating in a radical direction. Bernie Farber speaks out against Weinstein and the JDL and their demonization of gays, and what happens? Several dozen people from the community picket TD BANK for sponsoring Pride.
What does that imply? Tail wagging the dog? What, is JDL now leading the Jewish community?
Heaven help us all.

The JDL are small and at the extreme of the jewish community I believe. Bernie Farber did call out the JDL on a few occassions. Here is the last time he did so according to Xtra.
Yes it was more than ridiculous for the JDL to liken the gay community to Nazis. Farber has taken on the JDL before, so where are all the other Jewish leaders? The JDL should be universally scorned.

I hope he continues to lead the JDL just as he has been doing. He's certainly making anti-Zionist organizing easier in TO. Their demo raises the same problems (and options) that are faced when dealing with the Westboro Baptist crank - how do you best react to it it?
1) Do you turn up to counter-demonstrate against them (and give them the media attention they are so obviously after)?
2) Do you ignore them entirely?
3) Or do you treat it like a fund-raising opportunity... seek sponsors who will pay you say a dollar for every five minutes you are counter-demonstrating and donate the proceeds to a group that will really piss off the JDL.... I would assume a Palestinian charity would be the most likely.
One worry is counter protesting them can be downright dangerous. The cops let them pound protestors at the EDL rally, and at the Pride threats were made with no repercussions either.
These JDL guys and everyone they ally with, whether EDL or Hindu fascists, are a bunch of thugs operating with police wink-and-nods.
The JDL are without question a bunch of thugs. But this is the first I heard of the JDL assaulting anyone in Toronto. That raises the ante to a level that most Jews would find unacceptable. Can anyone provide proof of these allegations?
