babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.

Sheesh. I almost missed this--I'll use driving across the province with my three-month old as an excuse. Hopefully oldgoat is not (a further) two sheets to the wind yet. Happy birthday, oldgoat!

And only 60, if I remember correctly.

Congrats!

Oh my goodness!  Thank's folks.  Catchfire, that was indeed the spirit of my cake if not the exact colour.

Yes, 60.  The big six - oh.  Those who may be expecting any increased maturity will be disappointed.  Anyway, I got good stuff, and that's really what counts in the end, isn't it.

Hey young fella-

I've been saying for several months that I am 60. But last week, when it was really there, I honestly could not believe it.

Like, how did I get here anyway?

I was remarking to some young friend of my son's a while back that an advantage of being my age was that I got to experience my teen years between 1964 and 1970.  Pretty freakin' cool.

Even cooler if you could remember what happened, eh?

But we can just make it up. And if caught at it, chalk it up to the psychedelics.

Or, if feeling in a responsible mood: "hard to keep it straight you know, because there was so much intense stuff going on."

I tried to get a rise out of my father:

Did you know your son is Sixty.

I knew he must have been prepared for the taunt, because he betrayed nothing as he simply said "yeah, i knew."

Happy birthday oldgoat! Not as fancy as catchfire, but here are the cupcakes I bought to celebrate! (Ooops. Sorry we're not in the same city. I'll just have to "take care" of them for now.) Hope your birthday week-end is filled lots of cake, scotch and great cheer! Cupcakes for Frank

Seems like 1951 was a good year.  Vintage for rabble rousers.

Cool

Happy Birthday young fella.

Yes I remember being 16 in 1967 and seeing the Who at Maple Leaf Gardens do "My Generation" as an encore.  But my favourite concert memory, from my teen years, is Led Zepplin at the Rockpile in August 1969.

So Old Goat did you make it to Strawberry Fields at Mosport?

I've been to hundreds of concerts. I listed a few of them in my Facebook notes. My favourite concert was Rare Earth in the Ottawa Civic Centre. Lousy place to listen to music, but Rare Earth rocked the joint.
