babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.
Those impressions of the leadership candidates were amazing!
It's not hard to guess which one made me laugh the loudest. :D But they were all really good. This guy really has the voices and speech patterns down pretty well!
Surprised by how good, and even funny, these are. He certainly captures many of their least-endearing characteristics, and with informed affection.
Political humour is always better when it's carried out someone who knows alllll the details--that was what was wrong with the 22 Minutes segment, if you ask me (though I respect them for trying).
That's the one I was helpless over too. I had to listen to it about four times before I heard the whole thing because I kept missing what he was saying over my own laughter.
Thanks for all your comments on the impersonations...! It was fun to do, even if I had a pang about a couple of them. Felt quite mean towards Brian Topp.... :-( .... but then I reviewed his performance on some CTV interview a short while back, and felt it was painfully accurate....!

I loved your impersonations - all of them! You have a bright future ahead of you! I oughta know - I've got one behind me!
By the way, polygonic, I'm surprised you didn't add the "I'm a small business owner" thing to the Singh video. I think he works that into just about everything he says publicly! :)
There's eight here... maybe the cartoon was drawn a little while ago? Presumably Ashton and Nash are the women with and without glasses respectively. Paul Dewar is recognizable on the right, and Singh on the left. And I guess the bald guy is Cullen? But none of the others particularly look like Mulcair, Saganash or Topp. The guy between Cullen and Singh looks more like Ron Paul.
Whether you love or hate the implications, you have to admit that the cartoon is spectacularly funny! Le Devoir's cartoons are really quite good; they're a large part of the reason I continue to pay $15 for my online subscription.
I especially love how Harper is NEVER depicted without a picture of the Queen, and how none of his cabinet is ever depicted not wearing a cowboy hat.
I think it would be funny if one of the candidates made a satirical negative ad. Something like the ones the GOP are running in the states. You could make a funny one about Mulcair, "Oooh he likes his Che Guevara beret, OOOOhh he is a seperatist, OOOOh he is moving the party to the centre." Put all this creepy music in it and have blood running down the screen. It might help later on when the Tories do the real thing.
That would be funny.
Indeedy. Do a number of them and pick and choose depending on what the Tories whine about...just get clips of him doing normal things, rely on the blood - very cool and probably fun to do.
Canadian-UK blogger Polygonic has a series of imitations of the different leadership candidates:

RE: 22 Minutes
Pretty sure that Ashton was saying eleutherios NOT eagles!
I sent my mom this video and she thought it was a joke:

Brutally honest but funny :-))
Could some moderator kindly correct the thread title by substituting "is" for "and"? Thanks.

They were all pretty funny, but that Mulcair one had me helpless with laughter. I thought I was going to choke.

They were all very funny though I think the Topp immitation was the most brutal.

they were very funny and I posted them to my FB page for entertainment on a Sunday!
The Topp one WAS pretty brutal, but it was also really funny. Glad you joined babble, polygonic!
Welcome to babble, polygonic! Hope you stick around.

Great imitations, polygonic! I wonder if I should skip the debate starting in two minutes.
The Mulcair one was hilarious. Very good impression!

I'm pretty sure that's Mulcair. Is there a subtle message here?
You're right, though. The drawings are terrible. Cartooning in the country is a disgrace.
You need to see more of Bruce MacKinnon's cartoons in the Chronically Horrid....er, I mean the Chronicle Herald!
His take on what things are going on is nothing short of magical.
Oy I'd never thought of that one as Mulcair just because he looks so short.
I can't see any of his in the last few weeks. Do you have links to his NDP toons?
Oh boy. This one you're going to love or hate:

I love it and hate it! Which means it's a great editorial cartoon.

The title of this thread is a tautology.
Or perhaps a ShitMulcairDidn't.
