babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.

So does this site care more about SPAM than political action?

I think people are saying, and I may be wrong here, that one thread in the Ontario forum will get a focused attention rather than multiple instances all over the place.  I don't know how to create a thread topic, I'm guessing you figured it out.

I was told that folks check the active links, but I  won t always be on...

so I chose subjects, for instance under Disability...since the budget amounts to a cut to them....since inflation is 2 or 3 percent

I am new but I checked by topic at first...since the budget is next week.....this issue is this budget is going to turn  Ontario into Greece.....so really want to do everything   I can to get the word out

Yes. Not only focused attention, but perhaps even positive attention.

People are not saying what you want people to do is wrong.  What they are saying is you don't need to try to carry on multiple conversations with the same people at the same time.  The way babble works is that we discuss things in single threads, then if the conversation continues we make a new thread called - conversation 12 or whatever.  So what you are doing is messing up the site conversations on a bunch of other topics for other people by having your multiple threads pushing out all the others in the active topic function - which is how people mostly navigate the site.

Think of it this way.  You've bellied up to the bar and have ordered 17 identical drinks and are trying to drink them all at the same time, when in reality you can only drink them one at a time and still keep your shirt clean and dry.  People may very well be interested in having a conversation with you on how to take action against the budget, but you are making it almost impossible for them.

The people who've been using this site for a while tend to check things out here: http://rabble.ca/babble/active-topics

So, as regular users, they see multiple threads about the exact same thing over and over again, and it feels disrespectful. Even if it isn't meant to be.

They also sometimes forget that new people don't necessarily know about the active topics page, and aren't familiar with how others might navigate the site. And that others might break with the social norms that have developed here over the years.

It's kind of like a person who calls the wrong number, then calls again, and again, and again, each time expressing surprise that they haven't reached the intended party. The person calling might not mean to be annoying. Still, the person receiving the call might get frustrated enough to say, "This will always be the wrong number. No matter how many times you call."

Not a very polite way to respond. But understandable.

Hope this helps!

Whenever your on you can bump your thread to the top of the active links simply by posting to it, or if someone else posts there, same thing.  It's getting a rather negative response simply because of the procedure you applied rather than the merit of the topic.

If you'd quit spamming this board, people might then start to dialogue with you.

I tread carefully here because of my politics, I understand that this site is mostly for my reading rather than my posting.  I get into trouble sometimes, but its inadvertent.  I try not to be disruptive and I suggest the same to you.

Of course not.  Many of us are vegetarians, and care nothing for SPAM(assuming that it's actually MADE of meat, that is).

Scientifically speaking, the universe has no centre. And if you've ever visited Toronto, you'll understand what that means.

I have given the matter a lot of thought, my current theory is that it is more like the lowest point in a sewage water drainage system... everything (I repeat, everything) runs downhill and collects there.

Some of us are trapped here. I'd happily leave if we had a national disability program, rather than disjointed provincial programs.
