babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.

Hi! I'm new here!

This is my second-ever post on babble!

I meant for it to be my first but I made a quick pitstop to pick a fight in the story about the Earth Week vegan challenge thing that rabble is doing this year.

Hope you're all having a great day!  Laughing

Crap!  I just realized how boring this thread is.  Sorry folks, wasn't thinking.

So, tell me: what's your favourite flavour of frozen dessert product and why?

Please show all work.

Gosh, so much to choose from in the way of frozen desserts - but I guess it's simply strawberry ice cream. I never get tired of it, which is why I need to lose a few pounds. Embarassed

ps: welcome!

Hah!  You rock and are a good sport, Michelle!  Smile

But I'm still curious about your go-to frozen dessert product...

Do you know, I haven't had ice cream in ages.  I can't remember the last time we bought it.  But probably mint chip icecream would be my biggest weakness!  And ice cream sandwiches, too.

I think there is a vegan version of ice cream sandwiches that are completely delicious and evil.  I forget the name of them, though.

Frozen yogurt for me, rhapsody (nice handle, BTW). But, I make my own, sort of. I get the plain yogurt, Astro usually, and add peaches, sometimes a little honey, or strawberries/ raspberries (in season) and freeze it.  It has a nice crunchy texture, not like the frozen yogurt you buy, and it's probably better for you.  I avoid dairy products as a rule so this is an occasional indulgence.

Welcome to babble! Great people here.

Tofutti Cuties?

That's them!  They're the most evil snack ever...  so tasty and impossible to eat one of...  The key lime pie ones?  They're pretty much the greatest thing ever.

Rhapsody! I love your handle. So much so, I can't believe it hasn't been taken already! Welcome to babble.

In answer to your very important question: pistachio gelato (or ice cream in a pinch). I've been told that's an old man flavor but I don't care consarnit!

That's true, actually - gelato can be vegan as well, depending on the flavour you get.  It was a lifesaver for me when I was desperately missing ice cream.

And yes, tofutti cuties!  That's exactly the thing I was thinking about!

I've developed a taste for frozen yogurt since I was told to watch my cholesterol. The scales said 179.1 on Sunday. Shooting for that elusive 175.

I have osteoporosis so I take calcium supplements. So far I have been able to avoid kidney stones.

In my case I'm glad it's osteoporisis and not bone cancer.

Welcome rhapsody!  I rarely have ice cream anymore, but butterscotch ripple is my favourite, ever since I was a wee sprog.

It's one of the flavours in So Delicious' Purely Decadent line of vegan ice creams. You can probably find it in the frozen section in most 'natural' food stores. It's quite good, and I certainly like it, but I don't want to overhype it. It's been too long for me to asess how favourably it compares to non-vegan ice cream if that's what you're more accustomed to.

when cooled, whir 1/3 cup of lightly toasted pistachios in a coffee grinder, for 3 seconds flat... sprinkle half of that on two scoops of any good french vanilla IC... eat... repeat.... boring gone

My dentist said ice cream is the one thing I need to stay away from. Apparently it's murder on teeth. I guess the low sugar ice creams are okay.
