babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.
I use the little tree icon that appears above the comment box. Which, once you insert the url you can adjust the size. I can never remember the codes for that.
Ken, if you want to put an image from your own computer, you have to first find a host for it online. Use an image hosting service like photobucket.com or freeimagehosting.net. Then you use the link of the file in one of the two ways Maysie or F55 described.
I had to reduce it to about 1/9 the size. Geez Ken, you do pose challenges.
When you surf to your link (assuming you've got the picture down to a decent size), hover your cursor over it, right-click, choose "Copy Image Location" (or any non-Firefox equivalent), then you use the little tree icon above and paste into the appropriate place. Done.
Good thinking, Ken. But you made a common mistake.
The URL you inserted between the quotation marks is the URL of the web page on which the image appears and not the address of the image itself. If you go to that page and right-click on the image you will get a context menu that will allow you to capture the actual address of the image. The menu selections vary depending on the browser you are using; in my Firefox I clicked on the menu item "Copy Image Location". That put the true URL for the image into my clipboard : http://www.freeimagehosting.net/newuploads/yc2uy.png
That's the URL that you would use in HTML (if you first "Disable rich-text" in the comment box):
NOTE: To force the above examples to render as text, rather than as hyperlinks or images, so that you can see the code, I inserted spaces before and after the "www".
Maysie please restrain yourself. That image is disgusting. Have you no compassion for the poor kitty forced to pose with this evil man? Do you think they gave it any choice?
I've flagged Maysie's post #23. It's contrary to babble policy and to the international declaration on human rights. Maysie used to contribute so much of progressive value here. How the mighty have fallen.
Unionist actually flagged post #23 "for cuteness." I didn't even know we had that option, let alone that it could be applied to a picture of Stephen Harper. Don't we have tech failsafes for that? At any rate, before Maysie udderly tips this thread into depravity, I'd like to reintroduce some class:
So how do I insert an image from my own files?
For example right HERE.

example:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_irODFZihSxo/SyxsPxNSkII/AAAAAAAAB_0/W7fMKu-Ent...
[/img]
When you place the immediately after, you get this:

So I put in the path, the whole file location, and it goes into my file and gets it?
doesnt sound right.
ETA: I know how to get it with a url.
Is there some way of posting an image I have?

Now that I know about the tree, Maysie's way is more
Freedom, my way is always more fun. Always remember that and you'll be fine.
Haha...
Okay, enough fun and games.
KenS, where's that damn image?
I like this one:
but I like this one even better:
*waves to Maysie*
So I got my image hosted:
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/yc2uy
But nothing I try gets the image showing up here.
Someone elsw want to put it up?
I'll be able to see all the codes.
I took this out of another image in the thread:
<p><img src="http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad353/bagkitty/oldladies.jpg" alt="" /></p>And just replaced the URL with mine:
<p><img src="http://www.freeimagehosting.net/yc2uy" alt="" /></p>But that doesnt work.
test

Here goes nothing:

Thanks for that Unionist.
I could not figure how you got the image reduced.
But at least now I knew that being way too big was the problem. So I eventually figured it out.
[crossposted with you M. Spector. Thanks.]
So, is this a "random images" thread now?
For you, bagkitty:
And, you know, just because.
Maysie, what you have to ask yourself is "do I really, really want to go there"?
Maysie please restrain yourself. That image is disgusting. Have you no compassion for the poor kitty forced to pose with this evil man? Do you think they gave it any choice?
kropotkin I like to think that the kitty is peeing all over Harper, that helps. With a lot of things.
And bagkitty, may you be forced to wear a costume like this:
I've flagged Maysie's post #23. It's contrary to babble policy and to the international declaration on human rights. Maysie used to contribute so much of progressive value here. How the mighty have fallen.
Is that all you got, Unionist? I can do this all day.
