But first he would have to start hating Mulcair.

Is that an order too?

[Logicaly speaking. Or otherwise.]

I don't understand why y'all don't love Thomas (Teddy Bear) Mulcair.

Is that an order to love?

This is getting hard to follow.

Don't hate.

Hate, so you can don't hate.

Love.

I think you might want to join the Order of the Eastern Star.  They might help you sort out your feelings for Mulcair.

I'd argue no.

The greatest failure satire can receive is to be taken at face value-- it would be an utterly failed communication.

Satire is about giving the feel of authenticity with all the while the audience getting that it is not. If it does not succeed in shaming or ridiculing the target it has not worked. It is about wit-- if you don't get the wit then you miss the satire and the result could be even approving of a message the opposite of what was intended.

I feel so ashamed. No one ever took A Modest Proposal at face value.

In other news, Mulcair is obviously ineffective since Harper refuses to bend to NDP wishes on the budget. Time for a new leadership race.

I feel the love catchfire. I thought you committed suicide in #2 above. Marvellous things you can do with mirrors.

Don't think I failed to note that nobody cared. Or noticed at all, for that matter.

oh I so cared but I didn't want to stand up or out or or go out on a limb - just in case it wasn't what the majority wanted - and yes, it's time for another leadership race - we didn't get what we wanted. (stamps foot)

I hear the ghost of catchfire is a front-runner. Horatio spotted him on the battlements last night.

Is it too early to declare a front-runner?

yes Caissa but if we pretend who the front-runner is we can all start collectively bashing them and see who their supporters are now - time to flush them out!

What does this stupid  thread have to do with Canadian politics?

The NDP leadership is the most important thing in Canadian politics. You know that Boom Boom.

You are so right.  The emphasis needs to shift to talking about how many seats the NDP might win. Those individual horse races should be as fascinating as the hundred plus NDP leadership threads.

In that way NDP babblers can almost certainly avoid discussing any "radical" policy in Canadian politics and stick to the important task of winning power.

Who do you think we are going to run against Harper in Calgary?  What colour should his/her hair be?  Should he/she grow facial hair? Do you think that she/he should try for the sex appeal angle or should they do the teacher with a pointer routine?  Lets get to the real nuts and bolts of democracy.
