I knew this was coming. Call me a cynic but if Obama has traction, he will be assassinated.

Obama's got that killer instinct in him required for cosmetic leadership. It's a contest between warmongering plutocrats as per usual.

Way to ruin my affair with the best of a bad lot.

I'm just thinking about how our own Liberals have tended to campaign on the left but govern on the right. They definitely know how to appeal to large numbers of people leading up to an election. Obama talks a good talk. We know what happens here with pretenders to the left.

Well as for cosmetics, Hillary seem to have it better than Obama
Obama is pretty much the feelgood preacher candidate, infusing Americans' with religious fervour of how great and amazing they are.

He does talk about change a lot, but what have we managed to squeeze out of his speeches that pertains to solid strategies for the future?
To give him credit he really is inspirational to listen to.

Oh and BTW,
I dont see why this should be in anti-racism forum.

Oh I would like to see a black U.S. president, too, just not one that's been baptized by the Anglocized and militarized.

Obama seems like a really good person. But this whole presidential circus is a "likeability" contest.
He tells average self-centered Americans what they want to hear. Not many harsh honest truths that Edwards has the guts to say.

And Obama's not exactly Black - he's half-Black, half-white. A mixed descent, in other words.

Well CNN was clearly making it about race.

And the observations added mean it should be discussed.

No one from any race or gender can be elected President of the USA unless they are overtly imperialist. The American electorate needs to hear that they are the guiding light in the world and are devinely suited to telling all othe humans how they should govern their affairs.

Obama certainly gives them no cause for disappointment. To this end, he writes: “To see American power in terminal decline is to ignore America’s great promise and historic purpose in the world.”

As a Canadian I know the historic purpose; "Manifest Destiny."

FYI .. the racist classification as Half-Black. OR more precisely the racist accusation that he is not Black, should not be welcome on this board.

Nobody ever got pulled over for driving while half black.

Follow the traditions of our ancestors he is 100%, 100% Black, 100% African and 100% white.

The best explanation for the failure of the polls that predicted a big Obama win was that there were a large number of independents voting.

Someone pointed out that independents usually go where they can make a difference, and given that Obama was supposed to win in a land slide many of them figured that instead of registering Democratic that day and voting for Obama who was going to win anyway, they went over to the Republicans and voted for McCain, which explains his larger than expected lead as well.

Of course, that may be BS as well, but it sure sounds more reasonable than having a significant number of voters suddenly realize that Obama was black or that Hillary was human.

I'm going to leave this thread here for now, but I reserve the right to move it to "International News".

And the "half Black" label is problematic for a number of reasons. Mixed race people are whole people, as AfroHealer has said. And as far as I know, Barack doesn't identify as mixed. But I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will correct me.

And by the way, I can't help but notice that everyone, not just on babble, is saying "Hillary did this today bla bla" and "Obama did that today bla bla". Why not Clinton and Obama? Or Hillary and Barack?

Michelle

If you ever feel like moving it to the international news forum, then just close it and redirect everyone to whatever the current "Democratic Nomination" thread happens to be at that point.
