When Robin Pradhan and Shelly Bentz open the latest version of Rocky Raccoon Cafe on Saturday, the 100 mile diet will have a home in downtown Owen Sound.

He's from Nepal, she's from Owen Sound. They met in Amsterdam where he had worked as a waiter for almost a decade in that city's hotels. After landing at Bentz's Bruce Peninsula family cottage near Dyer's Bay they found work as a waitress and dishwasher at the original, summer-only Rocky Raccoon restaurant there. They eventually took it over and have had two other versions of the restaurant since then, one on Manitoulin Island, the other in Wiarton.

But the downtown Owen Sound location - the former Uptowne Jazz Bar at 941 2nd Ave. E. - is the first place where they own the building. And they're ready to settle with a menu built on Pradhan's background in Asian cuisine using organically grown food from Grey and Bruce counties."
