Kadie O'Malley has the details at Macleans. As well as a copy of the press release McVety sent to all MPs, with the help of Conservative MP Maurice Vellacott.

aka Mycroft

Charles McVety is so stupid that it's a wonder he has opposable thumbs.

Boom Boom Boom Boom's picture

Any similarity between Charles McVety and a human is purely coincidental.

Boom Boom Boom Boom's picture

Charles McVety is as useless as rubber lips on a woodpecker.

Boom Boom Boom Boom's picture

Charles McVety is living proof that man can live without a brain.

Boom Boom Boom Boom's picture

When Charles McVety was born, God admitted that even She could make a mistake.

Doug

Which is a laugh coming on so soon after creationists have been proved wrong AGAIN.

U of T biochemist Larry Moran checked out McVety's protest in front of the ROM earlier today and snapped a few pics. Read it here...

I've been following the Expelled ruckus via P.Z. Meyers blog and Richard Dawkins' site for a few months now. Apparently Meyers and Dawkins turned up to an advance screening and Meyers was thrown out, but Dawkins got in because no-one recognized him.

The film is disingenuous in both its premise and construction, overlaying images of heinous acts with interview audio of atheists explaining their position. From what I've seen of it, it's a classic propaganda piece. But I'm sure Stockwell Day will be nodding along in agreement.

ETA: The film was financed by a pair of fundy business types -- Walt Ruloff and Logan Craft. Craft is the long-time host of a Christian radio show that advocates the melding of church and state. These are scary guys with lots of dough.

Looks like McVety's up to his old tricks again. He, or someone affiliated with him, has registered the domain name charlesdarwin.ca and is using it to promote that creationist documentary Expelled, and other anti-evolution BS.

Nothing good for women can come out the religious right's mixing politics with religion in Canada now.

The actions of the ONNDP are really disquieting.

A delightful parody of Expelled:

On a more serious note, I am appalled by how much traction right wing Christan fundamentalists have gained in Canada since Harper became PM.

Oh good grief and tons of expletives...

This argument is actually new to me and what the heck is he talking about? It boggles...it really, really boggles...

Here is part of a letter that McVety wrote to the CEO of the ROM, concerning the Darwin exhibit:

quote:

Dear William Thorsell:

Further to my conversation with your Media Director:

Does the Darwin exhibit at the ROM display or make note of his book The Descent of Man?

Does the exhibit reference Darwin's racism?

Does the exhibit display the original title of Darwin's book, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life?

Does the exhibit reference Eugenics?

The exhibit displays the legacy left by Darwin. Does it only display the positive or does it also display the negative? i.e. Hitler, Lennon, Mao, etc.

(emphasis mine)

No, that's not a typo on my part. He actually wrote "Lennon". Play the White album backwards and you'll hear John expound on speciation. ;-)

Stargazer

Charles McVety isn't a racist POS? Oh......

remind remind's picture

Charles McVety is beyond belief, and like most uber religiopus he takes a grain of something that is a factual lie and turns it into a supposed truth.

jas

Uber religiopus? Is that like snuffalupagus? I like it!
