The Varsity covered this action last week at the Greek Consulate, 'Greek riots mirror Toronto’s problems, protesters say.'

"In December, Greek protesters occupied 700 high schools and 100
universities amid days of massive riots, after police shot and killed
15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos. His death fuelled anger at
economic policies as the global financial crisis hit Greece, with
demonstrators rallying against the privatization of education, barriers
to immigration, police repression, and poverty. Their chants echo at
solidarity protests across the world.

n Toronto, U of T students joined others to raise banners outside the
Greek Consulate. Dubbing their demonstration “Spark in Athens, Fire in
Toronto,” two dozen protesters sought to connect the unrest in Greece
to local issues. The rioting in Greece comes at a time when higher
education is increasingly more difficult to access, and when graduates
face soaring unemployment"

Canada already has several private colleges and universities with degree and diploma granting authority. Our students have knuckled under to the neoliberal agenda years ago. And now some insignificant number of them are reduced to blaming provincial leaders for a lack of overall federal funding for PSE here in Canada. GATS is a threat to education and public services around the world

Hmmm, we have similar issues here, what with the University of Manitoba attempting to privatize education for international students (who, sadly, are allowed to be the universities whipping boys by the provincial government).

So, I guess all those students rallying against the provincial government's plans to remove the tuition freeze in Manitoba were insignificant?

Of course, you have already shown to me that you hate young people, especially those that are politically active and think that politics should be left to old guys in suits, so it's no wonder you support provincial governments over students. All you want is for students to stop criticizing the level of government which has the most responsibility over regulating tuition just because of the dismal record of certain provincial NDP governments.

Hell, given what you've said about me about my age and political beliefs, you probably want those Greek youth to just go home and vote PASOK in the next election.
