Okay, Sven and remind, both of you are on notice now. Since neither of you appear to be able to play nicely together, then neither of you are to quote each other's posts, respond to each other, or refer to each other. I've been watching your childish bullshit for the last few days. remind has been starting the lion's share of it, and I've been ignoring it, thinking maybe a bit of "schoolyard justice" might be in order since Sven seemed to be taking care of himself decently.

But now I see that Sven has decided to start "starting it" in this thread, and so clearly the recess monitor needs to step in. Both of you - grow up and learn to ignore each other.

Suspensions come next.

Are you kidding? Since Schneider's return, Habs powerplay is clicking. The other teams now have to focus on more than just Kovi and Koivu in the slot. "Old" Schneider is still pretty mobile on the blue line and loves to handle the puck in quarterbacking pp's. He's showing the younger guys how it's done.

The hockey talk shows have been taken with Al Ovechkin's hot-dogging after he scored his 50th goal last week, so much so that they are barely mentioning Kid Brodeur's milestone...or even Mike Green's incredible year.

Are Ovechkin's antics just good clean fun, or are they cheap, selfish theatrics that hurt the game?

I like Ovechkin's showboating. It's not like he's a no talent hack, he has the chops to back it up.

It's about time hockey had some personality.

It's ironic that the same people most upset by his displays are the same people who think fighting is a part of the game. They have no problem with a fight two seconds after the puck drops, or in the last ten seconds of a game, but get all upset with O's frivolity.

His goal celebrations are a deliberate butt end to the clowns like Don Cherry who fancy themselves the Keepers of the Hockey Tradition.

I pretty much agree. The guy has the goods.

Does anyone think, at this late stage of the season, that San Jose has less than a 50% chance of winning the Cup this year? Detroit and the Bruins are obviously strong contenders but I think it's San Jose's year to win it all.

Are all of us who revere hockey's traditions also clowns?

I'm the first one to admit that I'm way out of step with the prevalent styles in sport. I saw the 1966 Grey Cup game on TSN the other day and found it refreshing how Hughie Campbell would make an incredible catch for a touchdown, then calmly hand the football to the referee as if nothing had happened.

I think the clowns are those who have complicated dance routines after touchdowns, or who have an act (Jammy Jagr, Miro Satan, Ovechkin, etc.) they go into after scoring. From where I come from, such behaviour shows a lack of class.

Back in the 1970s, when I played on a Midget hockey team that went undefeated two years in a row in winning a couple of Saskatchewan provincial championships, we didn't so much as raise our sticks in the air when we scored; and we'd win games 16-1.

Our attitude was that we could score pretty much at will, and hence scoring was something we expected to do, not something to cheer about ourselves. This was obviously part of the psychology of the game, as we wanted to show our opponents that scoring on them was something we did as casually as putting on our equipment.

As a side note, our official team name was "The Kings," but among the players, we called ourselves "The Russians," a reference to the 1972 Soviet national team.

A person I know is a hockey guru. Not affiliated with the Habs tho. He has been all over N. America and Europe scouting players. He says he doesnt think its so easy convincing athletes to live and play in Montreal for some reason. I dont know though. I think that if this recession lingers for too long in the US, a few of their clubs might fold up. I dont know. I'd love to see Vinny scoring goals for the Habs. But as we've been told over and over, Tampa will never trade him.

Habs will win again, and it will be glorious.

The first part of the sentence is no doubt true. But, the Habs will never return to the days of winning many Cups in a single decade. There is too parity in the league now (which is a good thing) and the Habs will, like most teams, win a Cup (on average) once every 20 or 30 years.

No, he didnt. But in my opinion, I can just imagine someone from, say, Czech Republic deciding whether to live in play in Boston as opposed to Montreal. Roman Hamrlik has played for several Canadian teams, and he said winters in Prague are not as brutal as they can be in Edmonton and Montreal. If you have money, why not live in a warmer climate and still be paid well? If I could afford the cost of living, I might choose to live in Northern California. I almost did several years ago before high tech went for a big crap. Coulda been a Sharks 'n Habs fan. But that's just my opinion. Even Montreal native Vinny Lecavalier seems to like sunny Florida, and so do some number of snow birds. Can we blame them?

And about the Habs winning again, dont you toy with our dreams, Sven.

That being said, if the Habs win 24 Cups over the next 250 years, it would be amazing... Seriously, I would expect, assuming that the NHL even exists 250 years from now, that the Habs will win about 10 Cups in the next 250 years.

Careful there. The Leafs and Habs have won exactly the same number of cups over the last 15 years, and neither is any closer than the other to winning another right now. Who knows, the Habs might be calling Las Vegas their home in a couple of years.

It's just like those Leafs to turn it on so late in the season. Leafs will win again, some day.

Meanwhile, even after losing too many games to so-so teams, losing Lang for the season, and injured key players returning to game form, Habs still have hopes for a playoff spot.
