Egypt and ww2

Was Egypt (British colony, I know) taken over by the axis in ww2 ? If so, what was the effect on the Jewsih population ?

Egypt remained a quasi indpendent British puppet state under King Farouk during the war. There was a very uneasy relationship between the British and the Egyptian army officers because many thought that success of the Axis might lead to the true independence of Egypt, but there was no outright revolt, though Nasser and indeed Anwar Sadat could both be considered sympathetic to the Axis.

Only western parts of the Egypt were captured by the Italians, and later Germans. The Nile valley remained in British hands.

Which made me curious about the fate of Jews in Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morrocco.

This web page seems to give a good thumbnail sketch, and might lead you to a more defined search, Pride:
