Inadvertent Negative Advertising

Intel Inside!

al-Qa'bong

This is for the types of advertising that turn you off a product or place, not for attack ads.

For example, when I last shopped for a computer, I'd look for those "Intel Inside" stickers and look elsewhere for the one I'd buy.

We've never gone to the closest restaurant to our place because they have a big "VLTs Inside" poster beside their front door.

A decent restaurant that I went to once many years ago subsequently thought it would be a good idea to buy a Hummer and plaster it with advertising for the place.  I haven't been there since.

Does America Apparel count?? They have effectively turned of a ton of people who might otherwise shop there.

For sure!  Their labour policies might be progressive in other ways but their ads annoy the hell out of me.

It's almost like kiddie porn. I feel bad for even having the ad face up! Creeps me right out.

I won't shop at either store.
