I'm hoping there is something from the US embassy in Ottawa about Omar Kadr. Documentation of Canadian government(s) saying "dont bother us about him". Or worse. More material for suing their asses.

Among the countries whose politicians feature in the reports are Russia, Afghanistan and former Soviet republics in Central Asia.
They're still mad that the Russkies are just as corrupt as they are. The Yukos and Sakhalin Island deals involving western energy companies in the early nineties were almost as bent as are the Iraqi oil deals today.
It's looking like Wikileaks is just a PR tool for colder war hawks and the western world corporate agenda. There is all kinds of stuff they could be leaking about deep seated corruption in US Government and 9/11 they should be leaking and are choosing not to.

Conservative and "liberal" minded people will look at that stuff and then convince themselves that spreading democracy surely is a tough job. Our soldiers are sacrificing their lives and mental health so that private enterprise can carry on their good work in desperately poor countries and are still piss-poor hellholes since the 1950s through the nineties when we waged dirty war on communism and democracy in general. i think these leaks are important. It's evidence of us crimes, operating procedures, civilian deaths, and the way the military operates when it thinks no one is looking. sure, it is from a military perspective, but when compared to what they release to the media and the public it makes for some interesting comparisons.
the problem is the way people read it and analyze it, like the "evidence" or iranian involvement in iraq the last release.

The leaks aren't going to be smoking gun documents or crown jewels, for the most part. I'm sure a few diamonds of desperate terror will bubble to the surface, but for the most part this will be like reading a teenager's diary or journal. Full of soul-searching complaints, bizarre stances, baseless accusations and wondering who is developing a crush on America or perhaps who America thinks would be its enemies.
I'm sure there will also be bad poetry and strange line drawings, if my teenage journal/diary is at all an indicator of the Wikileaks.

There are many Canadians who are okay with the crimes and think it's worth it though. Some dude at my local blog at home even commented that the Americanos have helped Afghans locate valuable mineral deposits in their own country even and therefore we have economic interests in Afghanistan now. We can't pull out, he says, because of the potential booty. I told him that he won't see a dime's worth of that mineral wealth himself and rolled my eyes 720 degrees backwards in disbelief. This kind of tremendous stupidity crept north of the border some time ago apparently.

President Barack Obama's administration will particularly feel the heat as many of the documents to be published relate to the time since he took office. Experts say there could even be cables related to the government's maneuverings to get allies accept Guantanamo detainees as Obama was pressing ahead with the deadline to close the infamous detention camp.
I don't know what to think. But there are replacements for the Obamacrats waiting in the wings. And the other war party is raring to go for four more wars as usual. The billionaire oligarchy are funding both parties. US and FPTP style elections in general are a game for the rich to play at. The old back and forth down there just never ends.
Have these kinds of crimes committed on the other side of the world not occurred before? Americans are a forgiving lot. When they grow tired of war party number one, they elect the other guys. Their voter turnouts are even worse than ours on average.
I like the 9/11 truth movement myself. Truthers have implicated politicians in both of the warmongering elephant and donkey parties. And they are winning over people around the world who are skeptical of the official lies as well as many Americans who vote traditionally for either of the big money parties. Yes, I like it a lot.

The Tea Party making the connection between big government spending, the wars and the U.S.A.'s over $1 Trillion debts and deficits.
A switch in political polarity of the Democratic Party - traditionally anti-interventionist and antiwar during the Cold War (except during the Clinton administration and the U.S.A.'s involvement in the Kosovo War) and now that a Democrat (Obama) is in the White House.
More importantly, a switch in political polarity of the Republican Party (John McCain and Sarah Palin aside) to the "Old Republican Party" the anti-interventionist, antiwar party of the 1940s, the party that has its traditions in George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

It would be safe to say , seeing as no “top secret” info was released that the US is probably responsible for funding terror thru out the world and guilty of many despicable acts …some even exposed by wiki leaks ..like the gunning down of reporters and the comments made during said gunning. No, I don't think it's some super-secret CIA disinformation conspiracy, but, I have to say, that despite all of the obvious embarrassment, there's nothing I've seen yet that actually paints the U.S. in a bad light. Rather, the U.S. comes across looking pretty good compared to, say, Iran's neighbours who are clamouring for war.
Every country's diplomatic corps is going to be sending back the same kind of information - they wouldn't be doing their job if they weren't providing frank assessments of world leaders and foreign governments and reporting any information they come across. So the "scandal" is kind of a non-issue until something major crops up in one of these documents . . . though likely all the good stuff is in the top secret cables Wikileaks doesn't have access to.

You can download the cables that were released yesterday via bittorrent. The file that I found was about 10 MB so should download quickly. I've looked at some of the stuff and actually alot of it is quite dry and boring. With so much stuff being leaked, you've got to do alot of reading to find the "juicy bits".
So my advice? Read the cables yourself.
