Batten down the hatches.
I have beer, wine, lotsa books, a cosy sofa and my boss's phone number.
Oh yeah, I also have a dude with a snowblower who comes by at such times.
No car, no driveway, no path or sidewalk to shovel. I really have nothing to complain about.
Except.....the SNOOOOOWWWWWW.
good thing you have cheese to go with that
*waves at Maysie*
I live close to the centre of Toronto, and the odd time I regret that we don't have more connection to a nice park like High Park, or Sherwood. Then I times like this, I realize that we don't have a driveway or sidewalk to shovel snow to . We can just walk down into the Path, and have a weather protected world stretching for kilometres and kilometres.
If anything could convince Canadians that they don't need suburban sprawl --- it's 15 centemetres of snow, and windchills of -28.
Someone get the army on standby. The ROC needs a good chuckle.
Hasn't been any snow here for a week or so, but it's been cold: -24C, -32C windchill. Burning a lot of firewood - double that of last year.
Someone get the army on standby. The ROC needs a good chuckle.
There's a Rest of Canada? When did this happen? Does Hamilton know about it?

edit:: double post, but the truth of the sentiment needs repeating.

Dude, you're from Oshawa.
Dude, you're from Oshawa.
= endearing nature.
I'm supposed to fly in on Thursday so here's hoping the flights will go - normally I would'nt worry but since I'm back out on Sunday I've got zero flexibility.
Saint John is forecast to have it tomorrow. It will most likely mark the third week in a row that schools will be closed for a day. Of course, the university campus will be open for business.
Has Mayor Ford called in the army yet?
Environment Canada has upgraded a warning about a snowstorm expected to start hitting southern Ontario late Tuesday, saying there will be "near-blizzard conditions" at times.
"This major winter storm is quite large in size and will have a major impact on travel, especially tonight and on Wednesday," Environment Canada said in its Tuesday morning warning.
It will be "the strongest storm of the season" for urbanized areas like Toronto that are outside the Ontario snowbelt.

Caissa, has Rob Ford called in the army you ask? Not yet, but I will be calling the fashion police.
Not yet, but I will be calling the fashion police.
Ratpacker from Vegas?
Had to put on my winter parka today for the first time in two years - it was -30C when I got up this morning, now -24C, colder still with windchill.
Ratpacker from Vegas?
Rich boy fuckwad from Etobicoke.
Ah Maysie and Rob Ford.... like a pair of Kardassians flirting on DS9.
*waves to Maysie*
MORE LIKE ROB FORD IS A FERENGI BOHAHAHHOBHAHWHAHWHAHWAHHWAH...
omg bagkitty, our first fight.
Wait. Which Cardassians do you mean?
Not yet, but I will be calling the fashion police.
Here's what he was wearing when he met with my husband's boss and councillor Gord Perks for a walking tour through the Roncesvalles Avenue construction site. Yup, that's "R. Ford" stitched on the breast, and on the shoulder you can't see it says, "coach."
Oh yeah, and if anybody gets trapped by the snow, Mayor Ford will PERSONALLY clear their walk/driveway.
Doesn't he have a city to [s]ruin[/s] run?
.
.
Hee hee I finally learned how to do damn strikethrough.
All you had to do was ask:
Actually Unionist, I found one of your old posts and fake "quoted" it to see the formatting. Then I copied it.
Update!
There's NO snow in Toronto.
We're waiiiiiiiting.
tap tap tap
Fresh powder!!! Like, finally, dude!
Oklahoma City was 76F just a couple of days ago, just watched on CNN as it's getting blasted with heavy snow and wind.
Meanwhile, CBC is reporting a major cyclone in Australia of 325 km/h winds expected soon, 400,000 people to be affected/evacuated!
This Snowpocalypse has turned out to be a Y2K...
But like Y2K, it'll happen...
Bravo!
SNOW DAY!!
Woohoooooo!
Looks like only about 5 cm has landed, with 10 more to come in the next few hours.
Hee hee. Sometimes it's very funny living in Toronto.
See? I can mock myself. Also, I'm from Montreal, dudes.
School is closed in Saint John and environs. Snow expected to arrive here around noon.
Glad to see my birthplace is handling this catastrophe, Maysie.
Hardly any cars on the streets
So quiet, so peaceful, so still. Its beautiful.

I'm from Ottawa. What's their winter been like?
N.R. Kissed wrote So quiet, so peaceful, so still. Its beautiful.
Caissa thinks that will change when the military arrives.
Boom Boom 15cms down in Ottawa today and still snowing.
Caissa I swear to all that's good and groovy that I will teach you how to use the quote function before I go.
ARGH!

Perfect! Love it!
False alarm. Nothing to see here folks. Send the army back to Aghanistan. We got about 15 cm. maximum - half of what the scaremongers were predicting.
Also, I'm from Montreal, dudes.
And I'm from Atlantis.
See? We can't all just go around making up magical make believe places.
edit:: also, just suitting up to clear out a walkway to the park for the doggies.
Meanwhile in the Lower Mainland our Snow Bells are blooming out front, my son went snowboarding (on a mountain where snow should be) yesterday and people on the weekend were golfing in the sunshine.
HA HA HA
I crossed my fingers that Ford wouldn't pull a Lastman and humiliate Toronto by calling in the Reserves to shovel snow or something. So far so good on that one.
But the Toronto School Board closed schools for the first time in 12 years. Which I guess is another way of saying that this is the worst storm we've had on a weekday since 1999. I'm not sure about that.
It's also another way of saying that Toronto children are unable to navigate their way through snow that comes up over the top of their toes. Six little inches of fluffy snow, and our children need to be kept at home, for their own safety. If a child were to fall in a half-foot of snow, we'd be finding their bones in Spring, I guess.
So, back to looking like fools to anyone who's ever lived somewhere where they get more than 15cm of snow.

I always wanted to make a t-shirt with a picture of a car wrapped around a tree and the line "Sometimes the tree wins"

Caissa politely declines; he likes the third person.
Papal Bull I can't believe I ever allowed you to speak to me. The bagels alone are drool-worthy.
kropotkin, if that statement doesn't come with an invitation, then damn youuuuuuu.
Caissa, the third person is fine. It's the unmarked quoted text that boggles my brain and makes my head hurt.
Forsooth:

Yes I typed those [ quote ] and [/ quote] myself.
Caissa can be a slower learner at times. Thanks for the effort though, Maysie.
Now its happening. After drivers started thinking the coast was clear.
kropotkin, if that statement doesn't come with an invitation, then damn youuuuuuu.
Would love to have you visit us. You might have to chose sides between sharing white wine with my wife or red wine with me but otherwise I am sure it would be pleasant.
I accept.
And I hate fighting. Rosé? Tequila?
P.S. It's still snowing. Must be 15 or 20 cm by now. Woohoooooo!
