James Pasternak, who won the seat in Ward 10 – York Centre, says the city-funded parade is being hijacked by QuAIA to promote violent solutions to conflict zones.
“The problem is QuAIA,” he told Xtra. “There is a time and a place for everything and (the Pride parade) is not the place. It’s not the kind of discourse we need. Families and children attend the parade. There have been some pretty outrageous comments about Israel. Very un-Toronto.”
It might be the same battle as last year but it's a different battlefield. There are new councillors and there is a new mayor and executive committee that are probably more willing than the previous ones to let this get to council.
