If only the families of the thousands of people that soldier boy has directly and indirectly killed had the opportunity for a trial.

I guess now that he understands the abuse of power that is inherent in these paramilitary and military testosterone fuelled fascist gangs he will be quiting the army.

The trial of a Fredericton police officer charged with assault was adjourned temporarily Wednesday morning just as witnesses for the defence were to be called.

Crown Prosecutor Gabriel Bourgeois asked for the adjournment until later in the day, saying "certain issues have come up that are of a serious nature and some decisions have to be made."

Defence lawyer T.J. Burke then dismissed the paramedic and the doorman who were scheduled to testify Wednesday.

Court is scheduled to reconvene Wednesday afternoon.

A Fredericton, N.B., police officer accused of assaulting an off-duty Canadian soldier took the stand in his own defence Thursday.

A bystander filmed Const. Stephen Stafford kneeing Luc Begin in the back several times outside a downtown nightclub in the summer of 2009.

Begin was being arrested and Stafford told the court he was trying to help other officers in a dangerous situation.

Stafford testified he had been driving by Sweetwaters club when he noticed another patrol car parked at an unusual angle over the curb. He stopped his car and walked toward the crowd, which he described as agitated.
