Not a good way to sell "The Better Way".
It’s been a rough few weeks for the Toronto Transit Commission, and the public transit provider is finding itself on the defensive once more after one of its drivers was seen by passengers urinating on TTC property last month.
A man filed an official complaint after an incident on June 15 in which he said he witnessed another man in a TTC uniform answer nature’s call on TTC property at Runnymede station.
Brad Ross, spokesperson for the TTC, said he could not discuss what actions had been taken against the employee, but affirmed that urinating on TTC property was in contravention of both its own and the city’s rules.
“We won’t discuss the disciplinary action taken, but generally the action is commensurate with the seriousness of the matter,” he said. “And this is a serious matter.”
Mr. Ross called the driver’s behaviour “completely unprofessional and in contravention of our own code of conduct and the city bylaws.” Washroom are provided at every station, Mr. Ross said.
