Tech Errors with Private Messages (PM)

I can't find out how to deal with my pm feature not working for the past 10 days. I keep getting this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function subscriptions_hold() in /var/www/rabble/rabble.ca/sites/all/modules/privatemsg/pm_subscriptions/pm_subscriptions.module on line 106

I know this is the wrong place to post this problem but I can't find a better place to do so.

Hi Stuart. The PM system "works" in that it sends your message--you just get this error script every time you do. But the intended recipient should have got your PM. It's a problem I'm told is being worked on.

And I'll move this to rabble reactions.

I tried sending suart a message and got the same error message - wonder if he got my messge and can reply to me?

The messages go through. This error message has been being "fixed" for months.

Yes, they do go through.

And you can see them in your Sent messages file.

They do go through and then you have to close that window and get back into rabble/babble in a new window. It is a pain because it takes a while before it goes through but the error message comes up immediately.

So as Catchfire said it works just give it a while and if you go back into your messages you will find it has been sent.

It's one of those little gremlins that it would probably take the site managers 10-12 hours of tearing their hair out to figure out and fix. And having torn my hair out a few times trying to figure out stuff like this I kinda understand it :)

Bottom line is that PM's work...just that you get this error message.

It might be an idea to make this a "sticky" so that new folks coming across this error will know that PM's do indeed work despite the error messages.

It's the one I am continually removing every time I reply to or quote a post. I remember adding it a long time ago and referenced a photo that no longer exists on photobucket's server.

I just sent you a test PM, A24, and didn't get the error. But I do occasionally get it when posting.

I think it might be a glitch specific to when a person's username contains more than one word.

A24 can you post the error message you get here? The validation error with posting should be fixed. I have to see if this is the same one. Do you know if the babbler received the PM?
