Who Was the CIA Suicide Bomber?

http://www.kawther.info/wpr/2010/01/04/who-was-the-cia-suicide-bomber-in...

"The report below was published in Al-Jazeera Arabic. It surprised me that Al Jazeera English is not publishing the same information on their homepage...

There is a deep gap between what the Arabic and Al Jazeera English are reporting.

Nobody knows why Al Jazeera in English seems to follow an editorial policy based on misleading their foreign (not Arabic speaking) readers,

especially with their reports about the American and Israeli occupations..."

Looks like Tony Burman's CBC training is paying off....AJE is clearly now safe for consumption even by Canadians. Thanks Tony - I guess that's why they pay you the big bucks...

The company recently gained nationwide distribution in Australia and is expanding in India and the US..."North America is a market of 370 million people, the largest English speaking market in the world, and as we expand into the United States, it's important for us to get nationwide distribution in Canada.."

What a perfect job for an ex CBC executive...

Al Jazeera English On the Air in Canada

"But groups like the Canadian Jewish Congress gave their support for the English-language version to be broadcast in Canada after Al Jazeera executives agreed to set up a consultation process that would allow them to air concerns.."

I've been watching Al Jazeera for awhile on the internet. If you are expecting something faintly 'revolutionary', you're going to be sadly disappointed.

Al Jazeera is a rather moderate conservative news medium, but then, why shouldn't it be?

Unfortunately, the mainstream media, along with outfits such as the CJC and Bnai Brith have convinced westerners that Arabs are fanatical violent zealots that one almosts expects news presenters to blow themselves up following each broadcast.

True. But (but maybe that should be 'and') I also think there's a certain section of the left that harbours some illusions....

It's an important point. I don't think it's the important point, but I realize you probably disagree.

The method of censoring Al Jazeera in Canada is slightly more sophisticated than the tactic used by the IOF...

Quote:

The Israeli military obstructed an Al-Jazeera crew trying to cover a rally in the village of Bil’in west of Ramallah on Friday, according to news reports and interviews. The Committee to Protect Journalists condemns these actions and calls on Israeli authorities to end the harassment of journalists in the West Bank.

Israel Defense Forces arrested Al-Jazeera cameraman Majdi Bannoura and assistant Nader Abu Zer when they arrived in Bil’in to cover a weekly protest against the separation barrier being erected there by Israel, according to local news reports.

I saw this reported on AJEs "Listening Post" programme yesterday. I hope its no big deal. Its a wonderful news channel.

When I used to put on CNN as background noise it was like the old Star Trek episode. I... could feel... the beam... emptying... my mind.

Al Jazeera is little more than a [url=http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/dec/05/wikileaks-cables-al-jazeera-... for the Qatari royal family[/url] anyway.

Gaian

Al Jazeera did a wonderful piece on Chinese students going to bat for Chinese workers at Foxconn, which supplies Apple with components. That's the firm where several workers have committed suicide in the past year or two.

The student activists found workers covered with aluminum dust, unprotected; and while they were investigating, a blast - apparently ignited by the dust - killed some workers and injured several more.

A very gutsy "Debby", a perfectly bilingual student who was temporarily taken into custody by the state police, explained the situation for an Al Jazeera crew filming the whole scenario.

Back in Silicon Valley, they were unable to get Apple to comment. One wonders where the American progressive is in all of this. It's probably too much to expect memories to go all the way back to Naomi's Logo. NA students are certainly not in the same league as that Chinese student group.

This was not Al Jazeera's first incredible news piece out of China. ANd yes, Howeird, while not faultless, it is "a wonderful news channel".

Do you actually read it?

Sure, ownership can cause a "blind spot" as well as bias in reporting, but honestly, can you say that Al Jazeera isn't a real source of news? It's better than any Canadian news source I can think of. AJ are hard-working, publish plenty of bang-on editorials and touch stories that no other mainstream news site is likely to touch.

NDPP

M Spector is right. Their coverage of Libya and Bahrain, most noticeably, gives their politics away. But even with that - I agree they are head and shoulders above Canadian media which is horrendously bad, perhaps this in part explains the national ignorance/stupidity regarding international affairs. The best solution is to range widely and read everything you can.

Quote:
Not much will change after the ouster of Khanfar: the same government will be running the network and the early pretense of objectivity and of two sides to every issue is long gone. Starting this year, the network has not even taken itself seriously. In the case of Egypt, Libya, and Syria, the network for all intents and purposes stopped functioning as a news gathering organization and started acting like a propaganda vehicle for the Qatari royal family. Phone lines are opened and witnesses hiding under false names fill the airwaves with accounts that are sometimes real and other times are just fictitious. Delivery of news has become unimportant and only last week did Aljazeera resume its famous news talk shows. They have been suspended for months because Al Jazeera was not keen on hosting points of views different from the royal Qatari one. But the instructions seem to be that only Syria is allowed to be discussed.

It is too early to speculate on the future of Al Jazeera, but one thing is clear. The network thrived and grew when its conflict with Saudi Arabia gave it a wide margin of freedom, and when it was able to articulate the grievances of most, if not all, Arabs. The Saudi-Qatari alliance has severely limited the parameters of acceptable debate on the network and has made it yet another propaganda outlet for another Arab potentate. Furthermore, the network is increasingly keen on pushing the Islamist line of the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliates. This may not necessarily kill the network but it will substantially change its audience and reputation.

Ah yes, the brotherhood. It's where cold war turns hot and 9/11 "conspiracy" begins. I'm with Spector and NDPP - Jazeera is a voice for imperialist points of view.

The Muslim Brotherhood, Nazis and Al-Qaeda By John Loftus, Jewish Community News 4/10/06

Read it and weep. The CIA and imperialist friends have actually aided and abetted the spread of militant Islam since the 1950s. 9/11 is a murder story that began decades ago at a time when Western intelligence agencies embraced some of the most extreme right wing terrorists and war criminals of the last century in their hot and cold war against communism. Neither the CIA nor MI6 ended those partnerships and affiliations by 1992 as the imperialists' own "blowback" narrative suggests.

Blowback? Well, that was an imperialist lie to cover-up a host of lies, too. 9/11 was a terrorist operation like very many they'd pulled off in Afghanistan against the Afghan PDPA Government and the Soviet Army. Al CIA'da did it again in 1990s Bosnia and Macedonia, and they are there partnered-up again in Libya today. 9/11 hijackers were not trained by Saddam Hussein or anyone other than themselves at US Military bases and elsewhere funded by Saudi royals, and by various US-backed military dictatorships in Pakistan. The truth is right there in the open for all the world to see. It's a kind of Glasnost in a style that the US Military dictatorship will not admit to officially, like Gladio stay behinds and all of the rest of what was a cold war era nightmare for millions of people.

Gaian

They do a helluva good job explaining newly imperialist China. :)

A big ad in Saturday's Globe for all sorts of people , including anchors and technicians,to set up a newsroom for the Americas - and including a Toronto reporter.

It seems it's about to be born. Should ameliorate the effect of Pierre Karl Peladeau to some extent. Can't possibly satisfy the purity judges hereabouts, who will never watch it, of course.

'No Independent Journalism Anymore' ex - Al Jazeera Reporter (and vid)

"There is no independent media anymore. It is whose agenda is paying the money for the media outlet,' he said. 'Politicization of media means that media outlets are today like political parties. Everyone is adopting a point of view, fighting for it and by all the tools and all the means they have in order to make it reach the biggest amount of viewers.'

It is now the job of the viewers to compare the news from several different sources and then make his own conclusions, the journalist believes. 'Today we are in the era of open source information and everyone can reach whatever information he wants..."
