Looks Like Al Jazeera English is ready for Canada

i called rogers to order it and was told to wait a while longer.....at this point one or 2 more channels will not amount to much. mrs miles already thinks i have too many tv channels with hd etc.

but i mean it is a 700 channel universe right?

I've been watching Al Jazeera for awhile on the internet. If you are expecting something faintly 'revolutionary', you're going to be sadly disappointed.

It's an important point. I don't think it's the important point, but I realize you probably disagree.

I saw this reported on AJEs "Listening Post" programme yesterday. I hope its no big deal. Its a wonderful news channel.

When I used to put on CNN as background noise it was like the old Star Trek episode. I... could feel... the beam... emptying... my mind.

Al Jazeera did a wonderful piece on Chinese students going to bat for Chinese workers at Foxconn, which supplies Apple with components. That's the firm where several workers have committed suicide in the past year or two.

The student activists found workers covered with aluminum dust,unprotected; and while they were investigating, a blast - apparently ignited by the dust - killed some workers and injured several more.

A very gutsy "Debby", a perfectly bilingual student who was temporarily taken into custody by the state police, explained the situation for an Al Jazeera crew filming the whole scenario.

Back in Silicon Valley, they were unable to get Apple to comment. One wonders where the American progressive is in all of this. It's probably too much to expect memories to go all the way back to Naomi's Logo. NA students are certainly not in the same league as that Chinese student group.

This was not Al Jazeera's first incredible news piece out of China. ANd yes, Howeird,while not faultless, it is "a wonderful news channel".

Ah yes, the brotherhood. It's where cold war turns hot and 9/11 "conspiracy" begins. I'm with Spector and NDPP - Jazeera is a voice for imperialist points of view.

Well, that was an imperialist lie to cover-up a host of lies, too. 9/11 was a terrorist operation like very many they'd pulled off in Afghanistan against the Afghan PDPA Government and the Soviet Army. Al CIA'da did it again in 1990s Bosnia and Macedonia, and they are there partnered-up again in Libya today. 9/11 hijackers were not trained by Saddam Hussein or anyone other than themselves at US Military bases and elsewhere funded by Saudi royals, and by various US-backed military dictatorships in Pakistan.
